DIY Humidifier for P10 mask

Post by NoSnore7 » Tue Sep 25, 2018 8:52 am

Hello, I am new to this forum, and did a little looking around to see if this has been asked before. Please forgive me if I missed it. I use the Airsense 10 auto with the P10 mask. I travel a lot and am often camping off the grid, which requires alternate ways to power my machine. I currently use a solar chargeable battery generator, but using the humidifier only gets me about 6 hours before it dies. If I don't used the humidifier, it is a vast difference, but I can't tolerate the dryness. I know the travel CPAP machines have the sponge looking thing which is the in house humidifier. Has anyone ever tried to use that in their non travel machine rather than the built in humidifier? I think that would be the answer to life for me without having to spend a little over $1000 for a travel machine.

What about just a small pot of water directly behind the air intake, maybe with a silver foil 'tent' to direct (and save) the water towards it? At least you would have the passover effect.

The Airsense 10 has the humidifier attached. I have placed water in there in hopes, but it doesn't quite work. I'm looking at using the Heat Moisture Exchanger (HME) in hopes it will fit. Ordered it Amazon. Fingers crossed!

I notice how passover humidifiers are designed to increase water surface area,
sometimes with some kind of wicking to draw water up into the path of moving air.
I wonder if anyone has added a wick to their Airsense tank to use without heat.

Oh! That's a really good idea! I'm gonna work on this. Will let you know! :-) Looks like we have the same exact set up.

You might try the PR Passover humidifier that doesn't require a heater. it has a large surface area.
