You should start your own thread as per the instructions
2...Start your own thread about your own specific issues/questions or problems...don't piggy back it onto someones else's thread because it gets confusing when we start offering different ideas to different people in the same thread.

My apologies BCman. I was thinking the same thing last night. We have drifted way off from your original post, and gotten a little bit snipish going back and forth over increasingly technical details that are probably not of interest to anyway one else. I will start a new topic and see if the off topic posts here can be moved with just a place holder or a snip that was still related to the op.
Thankyou my brother!
Also thankyou for the input earlier!
I obviously don't blame you for this thread going awry. There's one poster who despite stating he wasn't bothered, and despite me asking him nicely, decided to continue to post in this thread.

For me. Dry Mouth can be leaks or GERD (stomach acid can make the mouth seem dry.)

Waking up gasping, when you take the mask off, sounds like Aerophagia. Air gets pumped into the stomach with the extra pressure of the machine. The air in the stomach presses on the lungs and heart. I would ask you if when you get up, and walk around, if you belch air, the the gasping, sense of feeling short on air goes away. So it is like the first thing to make one feel right in the morning is to walk around a bit, even before coffee. Although one might not have enough space in the bedroom.

This is where I say that it is a shame that xPAP manufacturers do not supply bi-level machines as minimal machines, rather than an extra dollar cost to buy a bi-level over a standard APAP. For the OP, one might get rid of Aerophagia with a properly set Bi-Level machine. But I do understand that not everyone has insurance to pay for overnite sleep lab studies, and not all Sleep labs/docs do a proper job of diagnosing patients.

Where are you Pale Rider to tell me how what I said is wrong, and/or how to say it better.

For the OP, trust Pugsy over anything I say.
You were 100 percent correct about Aerophagia
I definitely express air but not belching. I do it out the other end in the more humorous way.
I also notice I have trouble breathing against the machine more than I thought. I might get my pressure lowered.
This has affected my anxiety quite badly. 4 trips to the ER in two weeks from worrying about my heart. Heart is fine. Working great.
Going to get a private sleep study.

On a happy note....continue to lose weight LOL

Still having trouble with chest pain and breathing. I find myself waking up taking quick, shallow breaths some nights.

I know some of this is probably anxiety related. Ive been to emergency room many times with chest pains, always after waking in the middle of the night or after a horrible sleep.

My RT showed me that I wasn't having Centrals on the computer from information taken from my SD card(there was a "Central" box on the program with a "0" beside it) but that option doesn't seem to be on Sleepyhead. How do you figure that out or do you need a sleep study?

Chest pains are very annoying...but they can also be serious. Or not.

In any event, I would consult with your PCP for specific guidance.

Chest pains were a huge issue when I started therapy -- the best fit in terms of described symptoms (for me) was Costochondritis. It did get better but that took several months. I ended up have a conversation with three docs (sleep, cardio, and pcp) and talked about specific actions I would take based on very specific symptoms (with my medical history. med list, and test results in mind). For example, elephant on the chest feeling would always be 911. Pain in the ribs that I could replicate by pressing with my finger, would be a self treat.

I think mine were from: a) breathing slightly deeper than I was pre-bipap; b) exhaling against the pressure and thus working certain muscles; c) being more still in bed causing certain aches.

The thing about chest pain is that it can be very serious (heart attack, PE, etc) or not (muscle strain) or something in the middle (stable angina). So, I suggest a conversation with a MD about your specific symptoms and history....and decide in advance how you are going to respond when certain types of chest pain occurs.

Good luck.

Did a sleep study
Pressure was way too high and causing me to have central sleep apneas as I couldn't exhale fully against the pressure. They dropped it to 6
I sleep way better.
Chest pain was from suppressed rage. Unbelievable what anger can do to you. It was causing my body to shut down basically.

Thanks to everyone on the forum. Thought I was dying there daily for a while

Did you get your issue fully figured out by now?
I have this same issue on my BiPAP here lately.Ive been on it for a few months, and just started happening. Woke up this morning after a dream where I was not breathing well, and woke up gasping for air. My AHI was 8.7! Usually it's around 3.5 give or take a couple points. Idk what's going on.
