Does anyone here use the Dreamstation flow generator only without the humidifier attached? How stable is it on a table with no humidifier attached? I am assuming that the heated hose that comes with the Dreamstation auto will not plug into the flow generator due to clearance and electrical connection on the hose being in the way? I am assuming it will work with a plain 22mm hose ?
Thanks

I have heard it can be much louder without the humidifier attached. I don’t know for sure as I don’t have a Dreamstation

The Dreamstation is stable without the humidifier, though obviously smaller and lighter. The connection to the pump is designed so that the heated hose will fit. The pump without humidifier can be considered a "complete" device.CPAPSteve wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 3:25 amDoes anyone here use the Dreamstation flow generator only without the humidifier attached? I have used the predecessor machine many times without the humidifier without any problem. However, it is noisier, and so I used a "muffler" that requires a standard, non-heated hose.

Okay thanks. The reason I ask is I am having difficulties justifying a Dreamstation go over a Dreamstation Auto that has been split in half that essentially does the same thing but weighs just a hair more. I believe the flow generator with power supply is about 2.9 lbs vs 1.86 lbs for a DSGo.

This is a very common problem. I needed a second machine for my boat more than for travel, so I got a duplicate of my home machine and often travel without the humidifier. I tend to travel light, so I usually stuff it in my carry on. I've even done a number of short trips with an underseat carry on, that feels more like a cpap case with room for a change of clothes. If I were a frequent flyer business traveler, where extra clothes are a priority, I might be more tempted by a "Go," but I'm generally happier having a full size machine, essentially identical to my home machine.CPAPSteve wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 8:27 amOkay thanks. Re: Does anyone here use a dreamstation without the humidifier attached?
Hi Captain! Yes that is exactly the problem I have. I have an AirSense 10 As for her (two units so a backup unit is already in place) but was looking for a travel unit and was torn between the DSGo and the AirMini. As I read more and more about the DSGo it seemed liked a great option except that it cannot be powered by DC unles uou use an dc/ac inverter (highly inefficient) or you had to buy the very costly battery pack. The DSAuto can run on AC, can run in DC with a cheap DC cord and it truly isn’t much bigger that a DSGo. Sure it’s heavier by a whole pound but with the DSAuto I ALSO have a humidifier whereas the DSGo was supposed to have one as an a cessoy but still doesn’t. I like the AirMinis size but the noise the humidx system makes is a potential deal breaker. Ironically I have DC to DC converter for it already (new in box bought at a garage sale) so I figured if I went AirMini that I’d be set with powering for AC/DC. I do a fair bit of camping that may have access to power and sometimes.
I also considered just scrapping the ideal of a travel machine altogether and use my AS10AS for her but reading some posts I get the impression that airlines do NOT want people using the AC convenience outlets to power a CPAP machine and that you either have to find a special outlet to plug it into meant for medical devices or you use your own portable battery power (which then leads me back to the DSGo’s advantages). I have yet to fly overseas and the furthest I have ever flown is to Hawaii from Canada so that is not that far.
