Question on airsense 10 side cover

Post by mets123 » Thu Dec 13, 2018 1:06 pm

Just a fyi question,I put the airsense 10 side cover on and when I look at my options it comes up with tube temperature as an option to adjust. Am I wrong but how can it have a temperature control to adjust if there is no humidifier attached that has water in it to heat up the hot plate?
Thanks

Because you can warm the air without using the humidifier at all.
Totally separate functions.
Heated hose just warms the air in the hose.
Humidifier heating plate just warms the water in the water chamber.

Thanks for that really fast reply Pugsy. That makes sense but is that air warming only with the heated hose? If I were to use a slimline hose do I also have heated air by adjusting the temperature? Crazy question since a heated hose can heat the air but a slimline hose?

You won't/can't get a hose air temp choice available without the heated hose being attached.
Just won't happen. You can't warm the air in the hose if the hose doesn't have the little heater coils inside the hose.
If you stick a regular slimline hose on the blower that doesn't have electrical plug in stuff...you won't get a choice to adjust the temperature of the hose.

Because tube temperature is not the same thing as humidification level.

Take off the heated tube and put on a plain hose, and that option disappears.

When not using the heated hose, you have to make sure you set the proper tube type (size) slimline or regular, or your pressures will be very off.

As a related question, on my S9 whenever I wasn't going to use humidification (basically, on an airplane), I would use my ClimateLine but not "click" it into place for the machine to recognize its a ClimateLine. I then had humification turned off. When doing something like that, would you tell the machine the hose is a "standard" or "slimline"?
Life before my CPAP was really no life at all!

The ClimateLine heated hose is a slimline hose no matter if it's got power to heat it or not.
The settings are for diameter of the hose....and just because you don't power the heated hose doesn't change the diameter.

Standard and slimline refer to hose diameter.

Why not? Just so you don't have to change the setting to 'off'?
