You revived a 6 year topic about cleaning an s9, to talk about speculation of mold on an Air10.

blackened areas and small blackish spots on and around and inside the entrance to the passageways they sit on
What does this even mean? Where is this? Is this the air inlet?

If this is the air inlet, then no it's not likely mold. One of the properties of fans, blowers, etc is that as they draw air into a system, they also draw in dust, particles and debris, some of it settles along the pathways the flow follows. Add to that and assuming it is near the air inlet, this is not an area where condensation collects.

but I want them to test it for mould
You believe it's mold. You test for it, just because you think it's mold doesn't shift the burden of testing onto the company you're renting it from.

they are refusing to directly acknowledge my concerns.
There isn't any design issues with the Air10 and mold. *If* your Air 10 has mold, it's not because of the company that is renting it to you, but because of user maintenance.

Any thoughts?
Buy a new or used machine. Renting is almost always a terrible choice from a cost perspectective.
