I was told to wash the reservoir and the mask with dish soap when I first got it. However I have a Caregiver that says in the nursing home she worked in they only used warm water on them as the soap would break down the seal on the mask.

Or is my caregiver wrong?
:( This makes me so sad, FaethSilverwolf.

The care given at nursing homes can be so awful. I can't help but believe this is just low quality care and laziness. They should be reported but I doubt anyone cares. It's even more disappointing that they also created another story about "breaking down seal" to cover for it. How :( clever :cry: .

I suppose warm water is better though than just throwing the masks in a NoClean ... but it's still shameful.

~~~as for your question~~~
*My* soap of preference is Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap. I soak my entire dreamwear mask and connections in a big glass bowl of Peppermint Soap and warm water about every two or three nights. I swirl it around a bit and make sure it's submerged and then let it sit at least an hour or until I get back to it and then rinse well at the sink. I wash my cushion every day (or after every use if I nap) with Dr. Bronner's just at the sink rinsing under running water. It isn't a chore *for me* at all. The payoff from the clean minty scent is a reward and makes me very happy.
I only wash my hose if I've been sick and am disinfecting everything. I'm a germophobe by nature and I am immune compromised at present so I'm very clean. (Or so everyone seems to imply. It doesn't seem that way to me. :roll: ) I don't think the hose gets dirty and it takes a long time to dry. I also don't use humidity so I don't have "biology happening".
I've used Dr. Bronner's in the shower since the early 1980s. I often buy it by the gallon. I've used all the Dr. Bronner scents but Peppermint is definitely *my* favorite. I just love the stuff! I love people's reaction when they shower at my house and use it. (Particularly BOYS :P :wink: )
Began XPAP May 2016. Autoset Pressure min. 8 / max 15. Ramp off. ERP set at 2. No humidity. Sleepyhead software installed and being looked at daily, though only beginning to understand the data.
How much of the Dr. Bronner's should I use in a kitchen sink size plastic tub? I bought a bottle of Dr. Bronner's Baby Unscented soap, but I think the lack of suds has me using more than I need to.
1/16 to 1/8 teaspoon should do the trick.
I just use a "squirt," but that is about how much is in a "squirt."
Any adolescent male (and most females) can show you how much a "squirt" is. They'll be proud to show you if are confused.
