Using CPAP without water

Post by Marvinator » Sun Feb 24, 2019 2:46 pm

This morning I discovered that my ResMed Airsense 10 has a leak in the water chamber. I have ordered a new chamber (2 in fact) but now am faced with not having a CPAP for the next week.

Is it ok to use this machine with no water in the tank? I seem to recall when I bought it that they said that the unit could run without water so not to worry if it ran out during the night, but I'm concerned with running it all night like that. Perhaps if I turned off the humidifier?

Thanks for your input!!

Set the humidifier temp all the way down to off and then use the Resmed with no water

Turn off the humidifier and you can use the current leaky water chamber without any water in it.

If the humidifier heater plate is on and no water in the chamber it does smell something awful. Hot plastic type of smell.

Yep definitely possible, I don't use my humidifier anymore but I don't have a cover. So I just use it with the water chamber empty, humidifier off.
