Cpap wipes vs. baby wipes

my wife and i both use cpap's. we use sams club membersmark wipes in a box of 10 packs of 100. they can be bought in smaller units at walmart.

My sleep doctor told me to use the cheapest baby wipes, to not waste money on CPAP wipes. I personally use unscented for sensitive skin, whichever brand is on sale.

I am allergic to babywipes so I put a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad and wipe my mask with that.

This is the first I have ever heard of not cleaning with water. I’ve always used soap and water to clean my mask the mirage fx and it’s just fine. It’s not hurting it.

There is no need to use soap and water every day, It’s time consuming and you then need to dry your equipment, many people find a quick wipe with a baby wipe or similar in the morning is a quick and easy routine with maybe weekly or less often washing in soap and water.

I agree with Jas. When I started out (many moons ago), I washed my mask with soap and water. I realized that it was overkill real quickly. I came to this forum and they set me straight real fast. Get a baby wipe and wipe it down and go about your business (bitness). I use Pampers baby wipes for sensitive skin ($1.78 for 60 at WalMart). After wiping down real good, I use a small hand towel to dry off. About every 2 or 3 days, I squirt some hand cleaner (Germ X) on the wipe and give it a once over and dry with the hand towel (thanks to Palerider). As was also mentioned, I will wash the cushion every 2 or 3 weeks. When I hear folks cleaning their hoses, I want to scream out "WHY"? But everyone has their own preference, and I suspect, given time, they will eventually stop it.

His mask has a foam cushion, yours has silicone.

No, don't buy the CPAP wipes, they're a ripoff. AirFit user guide says, "If required, wipe the outside of the foam cushion with CPAP wipes or similar alcohol-free wipes and allow to dry."

Soak?
I only did that ONCE.
Hard water will break that habit very quickly.
