Phillips Respironics Wisp Nasal Cushion

Post by beau_44 » Wed May 15, 2019 8:08 pm

Hi folks. I am currently using the Phillips Respironics Wisp nasal cushion (and appropriate headgear) with my ResMed Airsense 10. Unfortunately, these cushions only seem to come in two sizes; S/M and L. The S/M work but they fit a bit snugly on my nose which causes me to feel somewhat suffocated as I nod off. I am currently using the L nasal cushion but it seems to leak a bit more than I am comfortable with. No leak warnings have appeared on my machine when I shut it off in the morning. I am wondering if any of you have experienced better success with the ResMed brand of nasal cushion that fits over the nose? I would prefer not to switch to a full face mask and I don't feel comfortable with the nasal cushions that fit under the nose. Thanks!

I love the resmed N-20 for her. It fits well and I have never felt claustrophobic with it.

For me, the ResMed N20 was problematic, while the Wisp eliminates the same problems. I don't know if the new DreamWisp would be an option for you--it comes in 4 distinct sizes, I believe. With the ResMed N20, the headgear seemed to slip and slide and stretch out quickly. I also experienced a lot of leaks. As I tried to tighten it up to prevent leaks, it created a lot of pressure across the bridge of my nose and ultimately a permanent, sore red spot. Also, whatever rainout I experience stays within the Wisp, but with the ResMed, it drips into my nose. YMMV, of course! good luck!

The DreamWisp has a Medium cushion. The size of it is between the Wisp S/M and L cushions, so it might be better for you. The DreamWisp has the DreamWear-style frame where the hose from your CPAP connects at the top of the head (which is different from the Wisp which connects at the cushion).

I had that problem with the regular headgear. The "for her" headgear fixed that for me.
