Ok, so I read up on all the literature regarding the humidifier prior to getting it, and all my research showed that simultaneous use of the battery pack AND heated humidifier is not supported. And I fully understand why. There's just not enough juice to run the heater plate.
Well, i just received my humidifier in the mail and of course i had to try. The two modules will physically connect to the main machine, and it will turn on, but it will NOT start therapy, instead it flashes an icon to inform the user that you cannot use the two modules simultaneously. And that's fine.
But my question then is, why can't it be used as a passive passover humidifier? I'm pretty sure there will still be some sort of evaporation of the water even without heating? Better than nothing right? I'm sure it would have been great if the machine simply disabled the heater plate when it detects it's on battery power, instead of completely refusing to start therapy...
Any thoughts on this? Think there's a way to install the humidifier but yet trick the machine to thinking it's not connected?

Re: Dreamstation go simultaneous use of battery and humidifier
Ok, I kinda figured a way. Remove the entire humidifier from the front. Remove the humidifier tank from the heater plate. Fill the tank with water normally. Put the tank in front of the machine without the heater plate and push them up against each other. Not an ideal solution, as the two components (the main machine and the water tank) are just sitting there side by side, and any jostling will most likely result in a disconnect. Haven't tried it out in a real sleep yet, but looking at it, seems it may work. Although with just the passover effect, there might not be much humidity being added to the air stream.

Couldn't you do the same thing with a dish of water?Legrunt wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 12:45 amOk, I kinda figured a way. Remove the entire humidifier from the front. Re: Dreamstation go simultaneous use of battery and humidifier
Doing it with a dish of water would be possible only on the upstream side of the blower, meaning most of the air the blower intakes would not have "passed over" the water. Doing it like the way I suggested would be downstream of the blower, hence, contained, and thus all the air would pass over it.LSAT wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 4:44 amCouldn't you do the same thing with a dish of water?Legrunt wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2019 12:45 amOk, I kinda figured a way. Just to clarify, the blower would still be connected to the water tank, just with no way to hold it firmly in place without the heater plate attachment.
But even after all that, I reckon the effect would be negligible either way.

Re: Dreamstation go simultaneous use of battery and humidifier
Ok, that idea won't work. Without the heater plate upper latches, there's nothing holding the lid of the water tank at the back. The pressure will pop the lid open and all the pressure will be lost..

Re: Dreamstation go simultaneous use of battery and humidifier
I just took a torx and removed the heater plate, ckt board, switch and molex connector from the humidifier case. Put it back together like normal and it works like a champ passive with the humidifier and battery attached.
