Bella Loops Headgear vs Standard Headgear for ResMed Swift FX Nasal Pillow Mask

Post by crab-legs » Sun Jan 26, 2020 11:16 pm

I am about to order:

ResMed Swift FX nasal pillow mask - size large
headgear
short tube assembly with elbow and swivel

for my Philips Respironics DreamStation.

But I just saw something called "Bella Loops Headgear for Swift FX and Swift FX Bella Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask":

https://www.directhomemedical.com/resme ... dgear.html

This is opposed to the standard "ResMed Headgear Assembly with Backstrap for Swift FX and Swift FX Bella Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask":

Questions:

I have a large head, and a Bella Swift FX Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask would not fit me, so I am getting the regular Swift FX Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask. But the above description says the Bella Loops (sold separately) go with both the Swift FX and Swift FX Bella Nasal Pillow Mask.

1. So is this really true? Would the Bella Loops Headgear actually work, sizewise, with standard Swift FX Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask?

2. Are the Bella Loops adjustable? Is there Velcro, or are they just stretchy, like my current Fisher & Paykel Eson 2? I hate Velcro, since it wears out and doesn't stick after a while.

3. Which headgear do people here prefer? The Bella Loops or standard Swift FX Headgear with Backstrap for the Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask?

Thanks!

I tried the Bella loops; they made my ears hurt.
Just more silliness to save a hairstyle.
P10 for her, I wash as needed, and replace when they get lazy.
Earlier designs were failures compared to p10.

Ok, thanks chunkyfrog. The weird thing is the Bella Loops had better reviews than the standard Swift FX headgear with backstrap. They both cost about the same, so I am not sure. But if they hurt your ears, that means they are not too adjustable.

The Bella Loops are indeed adjustable. There are little ridges underneath the pink cover where you can adjust the length of the silicone stretchy part that wraps around the ears. If you look really closely you can see the ridge

They don't fit everyone's ears go great though and when they don't they can hurt. You need a nice little groove between the ear and the skull for the loop to rest in.

The Bella Loops will fit the same Swift FX nasal pillows and frame that use the regular headgear.

Fitted properly on ears that have a little groove for the silicone to rest....they don't hurt unless people tighten things up too much.
I used the Loops for quite a while in testing and even used them with the Swift FX Nano. Works quite well.

Ok, good review Pugsy! I may try them then. And if they don't work, they only cost $20, so it would not be the end of the world.

My ears are extra sensitive for a reason.
My first pair of glasses were too tight, and my folks ignored my complaints.
---until I showed my mother the back of my ears--which were already ulcerated.
Those lesions healed, but left high sensitivity in their place.

Ugh. I am so sorry for your troubles chunkyfrog. My grandparents, who raised me, were the same way. They ignored my crooked teeth and did not get me braces. They also didn't care when I chipped two teeth from trying to catch a baseball.
