Toshiba Flashair still a Thing?

Post by paultn » Sun Apr 12, 2020 11:09 am

Hi All,

Trying to figure out how to get Data into Oscar without removing my SD card from the machine. I see there is a wireless SD card that works but I am unable to track one down that is still for sale? Is this still a thing or is there a better way to get the Data?

Would be great if we could just use the Wireless Modem built into the machine.

Thanks

I remove my SD card and download the data to Oscar every 7-10 days. It takes me about 3 minutes.

They are still available on Amazon, but it seems theres fewer of them and more expensive than they used to be.

I wonder if Toshiba is still producing them.

I've been using mine for close to two years and love it. Convienant, no forgetting it in computer, no wear on SD Card reader in device.

Kioxia Holdings Corporation, simply known as Kioxia and stylized as KIOXIA, is a Japanese multinational computer memory manufacturer headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The company was spun off from the Toshiba conglomerate as Toshiba Memory Corporation (東芝メモリ株式会社, Tōshiba Memori Kabushiki-gaisha) in 2018.[3] It became a wholly owned subsidiary company of Toshiba Memory Holdings Corporation on March 1, 2019 and was renamed to Kioxia in October 2019.

I bought a wifi flash card for my camera, never did get the wifi to work with my computer, OR any of several cellphones. Still does work as a flash card.

My only problem with the card is remembering to put to BACK into the machine, but only because I am a professional procrastinator.

The modem doesn't transmit all the data.

Probably because the Resmed program doesn't request it, it's not written to use all the data. Resmed considers full data to be above our pay grade. Jim

Just like everybody else who does NOT USE CPAP themselves.

Seems ridiculous to me that they want you to pay so much money for the machine but will not allow you to fully use the machine.
Its like buying a car and have to look up and find work arounds to use the speedometer.

I just want my data without being worried about leaving my card in the computer 2 floors away. Sucks having to march 2 floors down to get it at bedtime.

Two floors away may be beyond the range of the card, it's signal is lower than most Wifi. Jim

Yes, the WiFi SD Hard has a relatively weak signal. But that means the WiFi SD card needs to be close to the router, not necessarily the computer.

For what it's worth my CPAP (with WiFi SD Card) is about 30 ft away from my router.

I keep an envelope on which is a big exclamation point. It stays in the nightstand. Upon leaving the bedroom in the morning, I pull the SD card and put it in the envelope. Then, I take the envelope to the laptop. Sometime during the day or before going to bed at night, I will notice the envelope is still there and carry it to the machine in the bedroom. (Works most days. :D )

On another note, I have found it useful to put a folder on my Windoze desktop, with a excel file I made to track when I take pain pills . I also have made a Notes To Due file on the desktop. My short term is getting shorter each day. My only problem is rememoring to keep them current. Jim

Well I want to use Station mode. My Wireless Access point is much closer. The computer however is wired and in the basement.

Ever seen the cockpit of an airplane?

Compare that to a car that *might* give you a water temperature and fuel gauge... but ammeter? oil pressure? nope, oil temp? nope! coolant level? NOPE

For the most part you get a couple warning lights and then generic "master fault", aka Check engine.

And gotta love people when presented with a solution say "I don't wanna".
