Subcutaneous Emphysema

Post by DJBKGSK » Mon Jul 20, 2020 9:48 am

Anyone hear of Subcutaneous Emphysema being caused by CPAP? I am getting evaluated for Subcutaneous Emphysema. Other caused could be stomach acid reflux or fracture during upper GI procedure.

Dr. Google says it's possible but exceptionally rare:

In this, and a handful of other online references, CPAP alone was not the cause of the condition.

Yeah, I found exactly one case that MAYBE is related to CPAP use(the first linked by Miss Emerita), but it also happened after another injury and the relationship to CPAP was only through the "it happened after" vector. Looking at the second link it also required a precipitating injury.

Looking back at the OP's history . . .
Pretty much one thing after another.
Time to look out of the box--for a better doctor.
