Eye Eco silicone shields for dry eyes with CPAP

Post by sb1012 » Tue Aug 04, 2020 7:21 pm

Has anyone tried using Eye Eco Silicone Shield for dry eyes with a full face mask?

I have dry eyes and in November 2019 (at my eye doctors recommendation) I began using Eye Eco Tranquileyes treatments for dry eye relief. While the treatments seem helpful, I am realizing that they don't fit well in combination with the full face mask that I wear. It seems that air is leaking from the top of the mask and blowing into my eyes and the Tranquileyes don't fit to form a seal.

Eye Eco has a product that is said to be for use with CPAP, Onyix Hydrating Sleep Mask

I wonder if anyone with a full face mask has tried this and found that it did or did not fit with the face mask?

Or, are there other recommendations for problems with dry eyes from CPAP air leak?

Thanks

The best place to find sleep masks that I've seen over time. Don't think you can go wrong unless you pick one that doesn't work for you, but I would imagine they have some kind of exchange policy.

I haven't actually ordered from them tho', but the selection looks great.

I tried the clear version of the onyix, the Quartz.
It did not work, because the distance in the center was not adjustable,
and my beady little peepers are closer together than those on
the super model used by the "design team".

I don't use a full face mask, but I have used the Eye Eco Eyeseals for a couple of years and they are a lifesaver! My eyes are so much better now. EyeEco has a great return policy (or at least they used to) if the mask does not work with your CPAP. Also, their CS is really good for helping before choosing. I notice that they also have a new product, with a forehead flap specifically for CPAP masks. Perhaps this might also be an option? https://www.eyeeco.com/eyeseals-with-se ... ?cat-id=65

Good luck finding something that works for you!

Not sure if you have heard of Hyaluronic acid, I belong on other forums and some of the fellows who use it for skin texture and making them look younger claim it works and a lot of them are using it. I use a soap with Hyaluronic acid in it (CeraVe hand bar cleanser)for my dry eye and more than likely caused by age and leaking masks over the years. The fellows claim it makes them look younger and some friends have asked them if they hand face surgery because they lost some wrinkles. They buy the pure 2oz stuff and very little is needed a couple of drops to bring moisture to skin surface.

5. Relieve Dry Eye and Discomfort
Approximately 1 out of 7 older adults suffer from symptoms of dry eye due to reduced tear production or tears evaporating too quickly (32Trusted Source).

Since hyaluronic acid is excellent at retaining moisture, it’s often used to treat dry eye.

Eye drops containing 0.2–0.4% hyaluronic acid have been shown to reduce dry eye symptoms and improve eye health (33Trusted Source, 34Trusted Source, 35Trusted Source).

Contact lenses that contain slow-release hyaluronic acid are also being developed as a possible treatment for dry eye (36Trusted Source, 37Trusted Source).

In addition, hyaluronic acid eye drops are frequently used during eye surgery to reduce inflammation and speed wound healing (38Trusted Source, 39Trusted Source).

While applying them directly to the eyes has been shown to reduce dry eye symptoms and improve overall eye health, it is unclear whether oral supplements have the same effects.

To date, no studies have examined the effects of hyaluronic acid supplements on dry eye, but it may be a future area of research.

SUMMARY
Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the eyes and often an ingredient in eye drops to relieve dry eye symptoms. It’s unknown whether supplementing with it would have the same effects.
