What Machine do I buy?

I have unlimited funds, but no insurance. Got an RX from my doc for a cpap. I have seen cpaps for 300.00 dollars and others for 700.00. And the medical place here in town wants 1500.00. Whats the story? And I have also seen AutoAdjusting machines. What is the diff?

I would suggest an auto cpap over a regular cpap. A regular cpap blows one set pressure, an auto cpap adjust every time you take a breath and can change pressure to give you the minimal pressure you need for sleeping. At least that is what I was told. I have the Remstar Auto and it is great, if I had unlimited money I would buy a 420e, it looks super small. There ar lots of online vendors, take a look around. The prices vary but I'm sure you will find the cheapest price.

I have a remstar Pro and am going to a remsatr autoset. Would not consider a regular one now because who wants 12 PSI blowing in you nose all night if you dont need it. Also try several different masks, I ended up liking nasal pillows, It will take time. If you are going to buy different masks try ebay. many people liquidate NEW equipment there. Make sure it is branc new. A mask there could be $75 where in your local med supply $175.

First, your sleep study will give your physician enough information to write a prescription for the machine you specifically need. From there, if your insurance is going to pay for this, go to a local DME provider that will bill your insurance. You may not have a choice of machines, but they will dispense a machine per your prescription.

If you don't have insurance, check on the internet for machines and supplies. Try Cpap.com. I would not suggest buying more of a machine than you need. Look for features for your lifestyle-travel, need for humidity, etc.

Be wary of internet auctions. Some equipment may not be new. Also, it is illegal to sell cpap machines on the internet since they do require a prescription.
