Need an cool airconditioner cpap
I've read many posts about A cool air conditioned cpap units. I've looked at all the post back to 2007 it still seems like there is no option to have the humidifier blow cool air air conditioned chilled air. Has there been any progress on developing a cpap that can deliver Cooled humidifiers air in a cpap

To cool, one needs a compressor, motor, refrigerant, lines and a heat transfer unit.dblj3255 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 6:09 amI've read many posts about A cool air conditioned cpap units. This would increase the cost, complexity, size, noise and completely screw up humidification and rainout.
Nobody's doing it, nor even thinking about it.

Re: Need an cool airconditioner cpap
There is no cpap machine that can deliver cool air. It starts with room air temp and goes from there and cool air won't hold as much moisture as warm air so if a person needs the moisture...they are going to get warmer air by default or else a bunch of water in the hose or mask or up their nose or a cold shower.
Now people can put ice cubes in the water chamber and not use the heat to the water chamber and have the air blow over the ice cubes and get some cooling that way but that's about the coolest you can get and then you are still starting with room air temp.
If a person just has to have much colder air....put the machine air intake next to the out put of a room air conditioner and have it suck in cold air and don't add heat to the humidifier.

Re: Need an cool airconditioner cpap
They have developed this device called a room air conditioner, I have been using one for 60 years, they provide cool air into a room. A room full of cool air tends to inter a running XPAP, cooling the air coming out of the unit, however cooled air will keep less water vapor in the air stream. Laws of nature apply. I don't use a HH period, I use a container of ice water (I drink it!)(to keep hydrated in bed as needed, I use the room air conditioner set at 67 degrees.

I would go back and ask the authors of the "many" posts about air conditioned CPAPs.dblj3255 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 6:09 amI've read many posts about A cool air conditioned cpap units. I am wondering why you feel you need to breathe cool air.
While warm air can hold more moisture, cold air can hold more OXYGEN.
Is it possible you are needing the additional oxygen in cool air?
Overnight oximetry might reveal your problem.
In addition, the type of mask may contribute to a feeling of being too warm.
Since you have not revealed what mask you use,
I can only say that nasal pillows are way cooler than most other choices.

Re: Need an cool airconditioner cpap
As an Arizona resident in the middle of the hottest summer on record I would very much like a cooling machine, however more realistically we've turned the a/c down lower at nights than we normally do. It going to be one hell of an electric bill, but necessary so I can sleep while getting used to my new swing shift hours.

And there never will be any progress, because physics.dblj3255 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 6:09 amI've read many posts about A cool air conditioned cpap units. Cool air can't hold as much moisture as warm air, which is why there are heated hoses, to prevent the moisture from condensing out on the cool tube walls.
Give up on it, it'll never happen.
Now, you COULD have cold *DRY* air that would give you a sinus headache every night, and probably also cause nose bleeds.
That sounds fun, doesn't it?

Sounds like an instant "ice cream headache".
I hate heated humidity except when I'm sick. So I use the humidifier in passover mode only and the air is pretty cool, even on hot nights. You can add an ice cube to the water to make it even cooler. Sometimes I purposely direct the vented air back onto my face or on my arms or chest to cool myself off. We don't have AC, so it's much appreciated.
It's already 101 F here today (1:30 p.m.). Forecast was for 102, but my guess is we'll be closer to 104 or 105 before the sun sets. We're in for a clear, hot night, and the house tends to warm up in the late afternoon, so I will appreciate my cool CPAP air tonight!!!

What kind of mask do you use?
The coolest masks I have ever used was cloth masks from Sleepweaver.
