problem with ResMed Airsense 10

Post by Julii » Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:42 pm

Hello,

I am brand new to this forum. Thanks for having me!
I have an Airsense 10 machine and for the past month or so when I press the button to turn the machine off, the screen shows the stats, but the machine still pushes air to the mask. It eventually stops, but I'm sure this is not normal.
Also, last night I put my mask on and there was a loud gurgling sound coming from the hose connecting the machine to the mask.
Any thoughts???

It's normal

The resmed has a cool down cycle that flushes low pressure cold air through the breathing interface. It is a good thing.

The gurgling is water in the hose. It's called rainout. It comes from condensation when the room is cooler than the air in the tube. To eliminate the problem, you can insulate the tube with a tube cover, you can purchase a heated hose, you can increase the room temperature, or you can lower your humidity level. It could take one or a combination of these to fix the problem. It's like taking a cold glass of beer out in the hot sun...condensation forms on the glass. The machine running after you shut it off is explained in your owners manual. It runs at a very low speed for about 15 minutes to dry the hose.

You'd be wrong about that.

Drain the water from the hose.

Gurgling.....water or condensation in the hose or mask...we call it rain out.
See this thread posts number 2 and 3 for various options on dealing with it and preventing it from happening in the first place.
viewtopic/t94035/Pugsys-Pointers-3Deali ... -road.html
Easiest option....turn up the hose air temp if you have a heated hose and if you don't have a heated hose then get one.

All ResMed machines will continue to blow air for a little while after you turn them off and quit using them.
This is called the "cool down period" and lasts about 20 minutes or so. It's a very low level pressure and it's to dry out the hose.
If there is a lot of condensation in the hose it won't be enough though, It's for minor dampness in the hose. If you are having gurgling then you have a lot of water (more than the cool down time can deal with) and you need to manually drain the hose and do a better job of preventing it from happening in the first place .... It doesn't take but maybe a teaspoonful of water to make an awful racket in the hose.

Down at the bottom of page 31 of this manual cool down mode is explained.. There's nothing wrong with your machine.
