Do a forum search for "chipmunk cheeks" and start reading. That's where the cheeks puff out because air has entered the mouth via the back door to the airway and the lips are shut so the air pressure has no where to go. Common complaint. Unfortunately not always so easy to fix.

air bubbling into my closed mouth
I had chipmunk cheeks when starting. There are two things that helped me.

1. Practicing hold the tip of the tongue on the roof of the mouth while falling asleep.

2. Using a full face mask - the lower straps rest on the cheek where chipmunk cheeks try to form.
