Nose Breathe® Trainer

Post by arteach » Fri Jan 08, 2021 4:12 pm

Have I read on here that some people have found this helpful? I'm wondering if it helps with keeping the tongue in place and allowing the air to flow correctly therefore keeping the mouth sealed? Last night I had excellent results with the headband going across my mouth and up on top of my head like a chin strap might go. This mouth piece seems like it would be much more comfortable as I found the band can pull and gets hot. Just looking for ideas beyond chin straps, head bands and cervical collars. For me less is more. I'm not a mouth breather until I go to sleep and the air just seeps out. I've been a mouth taper for some time but would be great to rid myself of that too!! Any experiences?

So, those are still being marketed? I wonder how Dr. Sue is doing.

Gramps and I each have one somewhere in a drawer. Neither of us found them to be a significant help and soon quit using them. I think practicing placing the tongue on the roof of the mouth during the day and as you are falling asleep at night helps just as much.

I use Somnifix strips (https://somnifix.com/) under my FFM every night. They work great for me. If you decide to give them a try, I have a tip on how to get three to five nights out of one strip.

Yes, that's the old tip-of-tongue-on-roof-of-mouth technique. It's good, but way overrated. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/arti ... shape.html

Well if you mew long enough it starts to become your natural tongue posture. And when mewing it is impossible to breathe out of your mouth. You can have your mouth wide open but your tongue is suctioned to the roof of your mouth so you are forced to breathe out of your nose.

Here is what has worked for me is to use one Somnifix for three to five days. Pull it off gently in the morning. Gently place it on a sheet like the ones postage stamps come on. I have used a post office sheet and a sheet that came with some stickers. Place it on gently and put it in a drawer where it won't be disturbed. The sheet needs to be switched out for a new one at times, but it should be suitable for a few months.

I find after a few days the gel-like glue will seep through the strip, and the strip will become sticky on both sides. Then, it is time to open a new strip.

Maybe you have a huge tongue and a narrow mouth? I can suction my tongue to the roof of my mouth, keep my teeth together, open my lips and easily breathe from both sides of my mouth. And, what about people whose jaw drops while sleeping? No tongue position will prevent air from moving in and out of the mouth. That person has to keep the jaw from dropping.

Look at the photos of the lady in the link I provided. That dentist claimed this tongue exercise "redefined the jawline of an adult and aligned the upper and lower teeth, especially if they are crooked." That is overrated!
