Tube covers
Tube covers
I just recently was reading about tube/hose covers. I have read different things, some say not to use on a heated tube others say it’s ok. Can anyone give me an answer as to wether it’s ok to use a tube cover a heated tubing?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Tube covers
I have been using one for five years or more, and my wife has been using one for almost three years. We have had no problems with the heated hose while using them.

Re: Tube covers
Resmed MAKES a cover for their heated hose.
Of course, they do not want anyone to use ANOTHER cover on their hose
--but there is no difference--except the fine print.
You may use whatever cover you like, but the heat is controlled by a thermostat,
and will be the same either way.
You might save a nickel's worth of electricity a month.
I own the Resmed cover, but have not used it for years.

Re: Tube covers
You should NOT use a hose cover, if the heated hose doesn't have some form of a thermostat to prevent the the hose from getting too hot.
You can use a hose cover if there is a thermostat that lints the heat.
I think most modern heated hoses systems are fine for covers. Respironics and ResMeds are OK to use hose covers with.
When asking questions like this, it's always a good idea to describe your equipment.

Re: Tube covers
I am in the process of getting my first machine and starting therapy. Definitely planning on getting a hose cover. Thinking it might keep the cat away and the hearing of it dragging across end table. From past experiences dealing with corrugated tubing and pipe it has a tendency to catch on the edge of everything.

Re: Tube covers
There is a member on here that sells hose and mask covers at www.padacheek.com. She makes very nice quality covers. If you're getting a Resmed machine, the hose is a little longer than the standard hose. She made a custom hose cover for me to fit the longer hose. I get a lot of condensation as I like a lot of humidity. The hose cover really helps.

Re: Tube covers
Cheap DIY/emergency hack:
Cut toes out of knee socks; thread a few onto the hose until it's covered.
Or wrap a narrow strip of fleece in a spiral--secure ends with rubber bands or pony ties.
