Resmed Airsense 10 Motor Bench Test
Resmed Airsense 10 Motor Bench Test
I bought a used machine, and when I set it up to match the clinical settings on my primary machine, the noise is so loud, I can hear it through noise suppressing ear muffs (and I have hearing impairment), so it's loud. Having watched a video on disassembly, and being somewhat experienced in working on electronics, I decided to take my machine apart. No problems with disassembly. I have the motor isolated from everything else, and I'd like to bench test it. The motor has 3 leads. I would like to bench test the motor isolated from the rest of the unit. Just wondering if anyone knows how to do this. I have the unit powered up without the motor connected at the moment, so I might be able to check the motor inputs as it sits.
The sound is that of an air leak. Depending on the minimum pressure setting and which mask I use, it does not make any noise at all. I'd just like to make sure there is no noise coming from the motor itself when run in isolation from the rest of the device.

I took it apart and put it back together. Couldn't see any obvious problem. Still makes noise. I suspect it's the motor itself now.
Re: Resmed Airsense 10 Motor Bench Test
Air leaks can be caused by bad seals in the humidifier reservoir or the seals in the machine that interface with the reservoir. Did you try the secondary machine with the primary reservoir?

Yes, I did that, and a number of other tests which led me to believe the sound was coming directly from the motor. I've ordered a replacement.

it's a three phase motor, you need a three phase motor driver to make it go.Atom wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 7:32 amI bought a used machine, and when I set it up to match the clinical settings on my primary machine, the noise is so loud, I can hear it through noise suppressing ear muffs (and I have hearing impairment), so it's loud. I don't have a circuit.

If you still have the motor out and the unit assembled you can run leads from the motor inputs to the motor and run it where it sits.
Did you order from Resmed or the OEM? Interesting.

May I know from where the motor was ordered?

Atom, I also am in the need to replace my motor. I checked everywhere and was unable to find a place that would sell one to me.
Please let us know where you were able to order a new one. Is it also correct that all Resmed 10 machines use the same motor?

I'd be curious to see what that motor really is. Can you post a photo of its nameplate? You may be able to use something like this to control it.

There is no name plate, here's a few pictures though: https://imgur.com/a/dxSTP (the S9 and Air10 machines use the same unit.)McSleepy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 2:16 pmI'd be curious to see what that motor really is. I bought the motor on ebay for $60. It was not a new one. I put it in, and so far no noise. Once you've taken the motor unit out a few times, it becomes quit easy to do.
