How To Make A Fitted Mask Liner

I made a mask liner for my ResMed Mirage Quattro (small) full face mask which doesn't fall off and makes my mask 100% leak free and just wanted to share the design with anyone who needs it.

I bought a t-shirt to make these liners about 2 months ago, and after disposing liners every 5 days or so, I'm still only a quarter of the way through the material.
The premise should work for any full face mask where the cushion similarly slots into the frame. If you make a similar mask liner for a different mask and want to share it, feel free to post a link to your stencil below.

I wouldn't say they're "100%leak free", since a little bit of air will leak through the material.

That said, mask liners like that were a game changer for me when I was using a ffm, what leak there was didn't wake me up any more, it just made the whole experience so much more pleasant.

Your showing how inexpensive they can be is great. I will suggest that you don't need to throw them away after one use, they can be washed and reused many times, to save even more pounds.

Maybe add some edge finishing to stop fraying if you do launder them as palerider suggests

Good point, I'm glad you brought this up. I could've really gone into the weeds on quite a few topics but I wanted to keep the video and description concise.

If you use a material that's re-washable, like shirt cotton (sorry I don't know fabric names) you may end up with leaks. (I've not used this material but I've seen reviews for washable liners that pointed this out, so I steered clear).

By using a t-shirt material, you can achieve a leak free seal. My old machine graphed one line which would indicate mask leaks and another line that would indicate all leaks including exhalation ports. (My new machine graphs only one line.) In the example attached, you can see a spike in the mask leak line for a few minutes when I was getting settled. Otherwise... 100% for me. YMMV.
If you're using shirt cotton, you'll likely have trouble keeping the slits from ripping further without making a button stitch. If you make a button stitch to stop that, the material becomes too thick to clip the Mirage Quattro together... that said, if anyone does manage this design with a re-washable fabric that doesn't leak, I'll be the first to try it.

Note that I recently stopped using a chin strap and also started using the forehead adjuster to relieve nasal pressure from the cushion. This has affected the mask and liner's usually consistent ability to achieve zero leaks. Just something to note if your mileage is varied.
