Friction-caused hair loss using DreamWear nasal mask?

Post by Headintheclouds » Sat Oct 02, 2021 5:56 pm

Is it possible to loose hair on your crown (pattern hair loss) from using a nasal mask such as DreamWear? The silicon bit will be rubbing against the top of your hair nightly. Just want to know if anyone have had this experience? And what is the solution to mitigate this? I don’t have any hereditary hair loss problems in my family.

i would suggest putting a cloth between your head and that silicon bit.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I best solution is to switch to a different mask....If you like that one, take a good look at the Resmed F30...very similar but hose in the front with nothing on top.

Several years ago, I was using a different nasal pillow mask. (Resmed--before the p10)
When having a perm, the operator noted some hair was broken where the buckle rubbed.
So, yes, that happens. I slipped a side cover over the top of the headgear--problem solved.

Thank you all. I like this particular mask because the air vent bit doesn’t get in the way, and generally I get a much less fidgety and restful sleep. I’ve bought myself one of those sleep caps on Amazon made for hair loss and chemo patients. Then I’ll put the mask on top. Hopefully that works (and isn’t too hot to wear through the night). I’m not 100% sure that is the root cause - yes pun intended - of the hair loss but at the moment I’m doing a scatter gun approach. Try everything and leave no stones unturned…
