Resmed remote data monitoring
Resmed remote data monitoring
Sorry if this has been asked and answered (but I can't find it)...
So my Resmed Airsense 11 data is accessible by DME (and potentially by doctor?).
I'm fairly certain that my DME is principally interested in compliance data, and not so interested in clinical details.
On the other hand I do want to have a discussion with my Doctor about flow limitations and periodic breathing or Cheyne-Stokes
Can my doctor access the details (like the flowrate digital signals) remotely (by the internal modem)?
Can my DME access that level of raw clinical data?
Thanks,

Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
Oh heck yea. Two ways. The new machines have blue tooth capabilities. I'm not sure if the new machines provide a memory card. The old Resmed machines used to, but I think they quit putting them in the new ones. Anyway, if your machine doesn't have a memory card get one and start saving your data. You can take the card to the doctor's office. You can download Oscar here (for free), then use your memory card to download the data. I print a copy of the data to give to the doctor. I once printed out a copy of my Oscar data and the doctor was impressed. I'm not a computer geek, others may offer more info.

I took a printout of the Oscar data to my sleep compliance dr and he was a bit mesmerized at all the details and asked to keep a copy to look at. His letter to the my compliance monitor only needed percent days used, average time used per night, and that I was self reporting no daytime sleepiness.Sheriff Buford wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 4:41 amOh heck yea. Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
Depends on how deep the doctor is into sleep medicine. Many have added that specialty to their current specialty. They do have the capability of seeing your data if they know how. Your data is stored in the Cloud and the doctor needs to know how to download it. You can also bring the data to the doctor on an SD card, but again, the doctor needs the program to read it.

Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
I always bring a copy of my Oscar data with me to the docs. The docs I know are not interested in the charts n graphs just the data to support that you are using the cpap as intended. Most docs do not have the equipment and software to dl data, they rely on the DME to that and send it electronically.

Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
I recently purchased a new ResMed machine on my own dime. I asked my sleep doc's office if they needed any info from me so that they could remotely access the data on my machine. They told me that I didn't have to do anything to supply them with access because they got all the info that they need from the business that I purchased the machine from.dataq1 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 7:37 pmSorry if this has been asked and answered (but I can't find it)...

Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
My focus in this question is whether Docs have ability to remotely access the granular data (for example, flowrate data).

Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
Docs and DMEs have AirView available as well as MyAir. Whether they take the time to use it...different story.
Patients only have MyAir available.
Google "ResMed AirView".
Docs have the ability to access the same data in the cloud that the DMEs have access to.
Now whether they choose to make use of that ability is anyone's guess.
As for level of details available in that cloud...since we as end users don't have access we don't actually know just how much detail is available or what the docs/DMEs can actually do with whatever data they do have access to.
Can they zoom in and see minute details....we don't know the answer to that sort of question.
Even if they could...would they???? That's another question.
Most docs will only bother to look at the big picture which is overall AHI average and hours of use and how someone feels.

Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
Thanks for the referral to Airview. Googling that I found a slideshow presentation on the reports available in Airview.
https://airview.resmed.com/resources/we ... sa_eng.pdf
However the guide does not specify Airsense, I'd presume that those machines are also covered.
The purpose of my original question was to get a sense if my doctor has the ability to access the same level of detail that I can see from OSCAR.
And the reason for the question is that I have an upcoming appointment (first post therapy) appointment with the Dr. that will be virtual. (He is > thousand miles away). It would be better if we were looking at the same details such as runs of Cheyne-Stokes.
To be safe, I'll probably have to fax some OSCAR reports to him before the appointment, so that we can have a useful conversation.

Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
The last sleep doc I talked to about that subject said that the high rate (mask pressure/flow rate) data isn't transferred wirelessly, the only place that exists is on the SD card.Pugsy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 9:10 amAs for level of details available in that cloud...since we as end users don't have access we don't actually know just how much detail is available or what the docs/DMEs can actually do with whatever data they do have access to.

Did it change in the 11? I dunno.
Get OSCAR

Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
I'm curious, did they even ask where you purchased the machine from? My guess is no. Since insurance isn't paying, there's no need to access compliance data. And this suggests to me that they don't give a flying flip about efficacy data. They told me that I didn't have to do anything to supply them with access because they got all the info that they need from the business that I purchased the machine from.

Re: Resmed remote data monitoring
Not at all. My sleep doc's office supplied my apnea prescription to the company that I purchased my equipment from. Why would it bother me that the company supplied the doc's office with the means to monitor my machine? After all, this is beneficial to me.

What are you talking about? Do you understand the process involved in acquiring a machine? A prescription, in my name, has to be generated and supplied to the company that sells the equipment, unless buying a used machine. Guess who generates said prescription and suppled it to the company that I purschased the machine from? Right, my sleep doc's office.
So, yes, they knew where I purchased my machine from and it was fine with me that this company gave my sleep doc's office what they needed to access my data. i actually called them to make sure that they had this access.

It's interesting to me that some folks here worry about their doc, or DME, or whoever accessing their machine's data yet they think nothing of posting their OSCAR data up here for the entire world to see...
