I didn't intend to start an "international trade war" here! One of the great things about being Irish is that we have to import a lot of stuff (apart from maybe Guinness and whiskey!), so we tend to look at what represents value for money regardless of international politics, other than complying with any agreed EU trade sanctions. As for the "Resvent", it is now licenced here and is fairly widely available. As for Oscar non-compatibility, that would be a deal breaker for me too. I like to see my own data, because I reckon, at a certain level, no one knows better than me whether my treatment is working or not, i.e. how I feel after a night's sleep.
We've always had various "wars" here.

Sometimes some pretty lively wars over stuff that doesn't matter a hill of beans but you know how people are who happen to believe something strongly...one way or the other. They voice it. We've had things go nuclear just over what water to use in the water chamber. I am continually amazed at what people will go nuclear over.
Anyway, yep...where you are pretty much everything gets imported except a few special local products.
And most of us here in the US ....at least deep down...realize that a lot of our products are manufactured either fully or partially elsewhere on the globe. We want inexpensive prices at the retail level yet we want stuff made in the USA and we want our US workers to get paid a fair price for their work. Kinda hard to meet all those wants.
It's not so much that the Resvent is made in China as it's that it purposely chose to take a known proven manufacturer's name and stole part of it to give the appearance it was something it wasn't.
Sort of like if China decided to market whiskey and call it Jam
ison whiskey to get the people who really are looking for Jam
eson whiskey (BTW the smoothest whiskey off the shelf that I have ever had) and I pay a premium for it when I make my own Irish Creme.
Hence the term cheap Chinese knockoff. Deceptive.
For cpap stuff....pretty much all the mask parts are made in China....

If we look at the packaging we can see easily where stuff is made. If not originally and in full at least parts of it. That's how we get stuff priced lower at the retail level that we want. It is what it is. I have a sneaky feeling (but can't prove it) that all those ResMed branded filters for their machines are also made in China and just repackaged or maybe bought in big sheets from China and then cut down in the US to make them so we can say "made in USA".
I don't spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about stuff I have no control over but when it comes to Resvent I have a tiny bit of control by advising people to NOT buy that product because I just don't like deceptive practices.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
