How do I remove redness from lower lip/chin after using a full face mask?

Post by BatmanMatt » Sun Feb 06, 2022 2:30 pm

I transitioned to a nasal mask from a full face but still have faint redness on lower chin area after a couple of weeks. Anyone treat this before?

Was the skin blistered or broken?
Was there a rash?

Sorry, I haven't the slightest idea.
The best I can offer is to treat the skin kindly, and be patient.

Obviously we have no real concrete idea why the redness is still present.
Normal mask marks don't last 2 weeks.
Only thing I can think of is maybe there is some sort of dermatitis going on and I would probably try one of those over the counter cortisone creams if it were me.

Hi BatmanMatt,

If there is no itching, no blistering, no swelling, or no clear liquid oozing from broken skin, then it's unlikely you have an allergy or an infection.

So ... the best thing is to think like a girl – and dab witch hazel on to the red areas for five minutes in the morning.

Witch hazel is an astringent. Amongst other things, it causes the walls of small blood vessels to tighten up.

If you can't get a hold of witch hazel, you might try ice in a cloth and held to the area for a few minutes, the way you would when reducing a facial bruise.

You could try cortisone cream or Benadril ointment to break the irritation cycle.
And resist the urge to rub or scratch it.

Sometimes your greatest strength is what you once perceived as weakness.

Would ya guys have felt better if he said, think like a woman? Big deal if he said girl. It's not easy to break old habits. His advice the majority of the time is spot on. No need to call him out. Okay ladies... don't all of you yell at the same time.

Gender conversations aside I tried 2.5% hydrocortisone. Should have thought of that already since my house uses it for eczema.

You could try a mask liner. RemZzz's and Pad-a-Cheek make them. Works for me.
