I was not able to find any reference to Solea on this forum, and much more than marketing materials anywhere else, either, so I'll try and ask: has anyone had any experience or reliable information about the procedure called "Solea Sleep". The reason I'm asking is not for myself, I don't think this has the potential to have any useful impact on sleep apnea, and may even be somewhat harmful, but I just learned that a coworker of mine is scheduled to do it and after expressing my doubts, I promised him I'd look at it. I'd appreciate any personal experiences, first-hand impressions, or references to independent studies or other objective feedback.

Re: Question about Solea Sleep procedure
If your coworker is having it done to stop snoring, has he seen an ENT specialist to evaluate things and get an opinion?
He apparently isn't doing it for apnea, so that's not an issue though it's possible it might incidentally help a mild caseif palatal prolapse was diagnosed.
I'm not sure where your uncertainty lies - the link seems to be fair in saying it isn't meant for apnea and they don't claim it will help it. They're pretty forthcoming about it all and if his ENT says it's a good thing, maybe it is... it may be fairly new so not a lot of us here might be familiar with it.

Re: Question about Solea Sleep procedure
You don't mention why he is undergoing the procedure. Does he know the treatment is for snoring only and will need to be repeated in 12 to 15 months?
Re: Question about Solea Sleep procedure
He has been diagnosed with OSA for a couple of years now and has been using a CPAP machine. He said he was hoping this would alleviate his sleep apnea. But, I am always cautious about such procedures (given the bad track record of, say, UPPP) and was hoping to find some research before he subjects himself to a new procedure that may not have much scientific backing, and may have some adverse consequences (he is 73), even if it's as simple as dry throat, and before he has spent a good amount of money on it. I don't know if this was prescribed by a doctor; I wanted to get some reliable information and be prepared before I talk to him about it.

Tell him to read the link - it says it's not for apnea.

Repeated for clarity:
NOT FOR APNEA
Since you were asked for info, be honest.
