MyAir Registration for Used Airsense 10

Post by jimolson52 » Sat Mar 19, 2022 2:58 pm

I'm a new, Medicare-equipped, US-based poster to this forum. I have a completed sleep study and CPAP prescription from a local sleep doctor.

Pointed to me by my sleep doctor, a local DME called last week to say that they have no CPAP machines and none are expected for months: "it's not just us. No DME in our area has machines. None. Zip." I called some of the other DMEs in town and confirmed that this is in fact true. They all said it was due to supply chain issues, but I bet the Respironics recall is a contributing factor.

I found a few new Resmed AirSense 10s on the internet that I could buy for cash, but the prices were all north of $1k without mask or heated hose.

Last week I found and purchased a lightly used AirSense 10 in a neighboring state. Had less than 1000 hours on it because the owner opted for a surgery instead.

When I try to register this used machine to obtain a Resmed MyAir account, Resmed's online registration process complains that the machine has been previously registered.

Is there a workaround on this?

Not an easy workaround. The original DME that registered the machine in the previous owners name has to unregister it before it can be registered in anyone else's name.

You really aren't losing all that much. The bulk of the data you can get off the MyAir reporting is the same data you can get off the machine's LCD display.

Use OSCAR instead and get a lot more details.
