ResVent iBreeze Newbie

Post by Mdab95 » Fri Apr 08, 2022 7:18 pm

Hello all,

I’m glad to have found this site and hope i could receive some help and guidance. I’m an active duty Soldier that just got diagnosed with sleep apnea and my doctor is prescribing me a CPAP machine. However, I was informed that they only carry ResVent ibreeze20a because of the shortage. I’ve been doing my research and would really like a ResMed. Does anyone know if Tricare will cover it if I buy it online? Does anyone have the ResVent? Any suggestions or guidance?

I would push for the Resmed and stay away from anything else including that resvent.

I think you would do better to contact Tricare directly - do let us know what they have to say.

Good Luck.

But make sure you ask for the right Resmed (lots of models), like the Airsense 10 (or 11) Autoset (unless you've been prescribed straight Cpap vs auto) possibly the "For Her" version - the best, but not crucial. An older model ("9") might even be OK on a temp basis if the 'run hours' are low. Depending on where you're located tho', you might have some trouble accessing those.

Ideally, I would like the Airsense 11. I live in MD. I have found it online, but none of the online stores accept insurance.

Honestly, if this is your 1st cpap I would stay away from the A11 for now. Reason is there is much more helpful info available for the A10 or S9.

ETA:Not to mention there are more spare supplies available for S9 + A10.

https://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t184 ... rvoir.html

And I would insist on an Auto since that will give you more user options. So Resmed Auto S9 or A10 IMO will be a better choice for a first time user to get over the hump. After that, yea jump on a A11 auto.

Thank you for the advice and the forum. I think Tricare will only cover one every few years. So I was hoping to get one that is good quality and recently new so it could last me. Also, I did notice that the 11 had the “for her” as well and similar in pricing to the 10 version. Do you happen to know what makes the 11 not so first time user friendly?

I guess my first hump right now is finding a DME that will accept my insurance as all online stores seem to be out of pocket.

I am shocked that members of OUR military are being peddled a CHINESE machine.

Contact Tricare directly for the best answer to that.

Just like software updates any time things are *new* to the market there are bugs to work out.

Your call.

Cpap will typically take time to get used to and the new user will have tons of questions - hence this forum.

Some accessories are not yet available. Not many people here actually have one to help you with 1st hand experience.
Search here for answers to the diff models first.

afaik the ResVent and iBreeze are both as new as the AS11 so if you want the latest cpap equipment choose any of the three.
Both the S9 & A10 have lasted 10yrs or more and have accessories immediately available and plenty of answers to questions right here in this forum.

I understand that a heated hose and even filters are hard to find for the AS11.

But its your call what you try to get in this market at this point in time.

Might want to read what richac wrote at 7:12 PM tonight about his experience with the iBreeze.

Granted it is one person but gotta start somewhere with comments about it and not many people on the forum have had a chance yet.

Absolutely, gotta start somewhere. If the CPAP supply doesn’t resolve, the forum may see more posts about it? Who knows. But I hope office don’t keep trying to push these out because I haven’t found very good information on it, let alone much first hand experience. Thank you for the link!

For what it’s worth, I am being seen off post. Im just saddened that what is being offered appears to be made very cheap, quickly approved, not much information on the market, not OSCAR compatibility, etc. However, I hope I have good luck speaking with Tricare Monday! Or I hope a nearby MTF has a ResMed readily available.
