Wireless signal - No signal at all

Post by Gator5000e » Tue Apr 12, 2022 4:09 am

Good morning, everyone. Sorry if this is already been discussed but I did a quick search and I did not see anything listed. The last few days I have noticed on my ResMed air sense 10 that the wireless signal icon is now a circle with a line through it. I was getting 1 to 4 bars on a regular basis and probably didn’t think much of it at the time. But now that I’m getting a zero signal indication, I’m wondering what that signal was for. I do use the my air app to check my nightly results, even though I realize it’s very basic and not very detailed. It just sort of gives you a good basic overview of how the night before went. But with the wireless signal being at zero, I am not able to get that information through the my air app. The app says it has not received any information from the machine for sometime.

So my question is this. Is this part of the AT&T 3G shut down? And will I be missing out on the use of this app and data because my machine cannot send out a signal. I am assuming there is no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth in this machine like was in the dream station.

So I’m wondering if there’s anything that I can do about this or do I just have to live with the lack of a wireless signal and data being transmitted to my app.Sorry for the dumb question or if it was poorly worded. I’m not sure how else to say this. And thank you for any suggestions on how to remedy this issue. If it is a 3G network situation, I’m assuming I would have to buy a new machine?

Thanks in advance.

All the data is in your machine. You can access data the minute you get up on your screen's Sleep Report....Just press the dial button. If the data is not there, the sleep Report is not turned on in your settings. Look for ESSENTIALS and change the setting to PLUS. As far as the Cellular Signal, you can go to the very end of the Settings. Click on ABOUT and you should see the cellular network....mine says 4G.

The signal goes via the cellular phone network to Resmed's "cloud", where it can be accessed by MyAir or AirView (the clinicians' version). As you've noted MyAir is very basic - it can also be misleading, giving you a high "score" even if the AHI is unacceptably high. Resmed also use the bulk data in research and development - it's one of the ways their algorithms got as good as they are.
So my question is this. Is this part of the AT&T 3G shut down? And will I be missing out on the use of this app and data because my machine cannot send out a signal. I am assuming there is no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth in this machine like was in the dream station.
Yes, it's likely due to the retirement of outmoded generations of cellular. The AirSense 10 series only uses the phone system - no Bluetooth or wifi.
So I’m wondering if there’s anything that I can do about this or do I just have to live with the lack of a wireless signal and data being transmitted to my app. Sorry for the dumb question or if it was poorly worded. I’m not sure how else to say this. And thank you for any suggestions on how to remedy this issue. If it is a 3G network situation, I’m assuming I would have to buy a new machine?
Well you certainly don't need to buy a new machine just because you've lost the phone connection. Invest some time and download Oscar - that will give you all the information that MyAir did plus so much more besides. It's free software and it's really good.
* Download Oscar
* Oscar help
* An alternative to Oscar - try SleepHQ

Thanks all. I do have Oscar and use it on occasion. It's just the onlybcomputer I can install the program on is in my office. So it's a bit of a pain to pull out the card and bring it with me. I've left the card at the office before. But that's fine. Now my car and CPAP machine have been affected by the shut down of the 3G networks.

I have been using the sleep report with Essentials on PLUS, for years.
MyAir serves its purpose--but not mine.
I realized that gold stars were just decoration when in kindergarten.
The real prize is knowledge!
I can never get enough!

Some of the older AirSense 10 machines had 3G. I think some used AT&T and some used T-mobile.

You could be experiencing this because your machine is using AT&T 3G, or you may be experiencing it because of a bad tower in your area (possibly getting work done on it).

Instead of using myAir, have you thought of downloading OSCAR and using an SD card?

MyAir/5G seems to be just another strategy to sell more equipment;
it certainly works with cell phones.
At least, we can CHOOSE not to use MyAir. 8)

As an alternative to Oscar, try SleepHQ. https://sleephq.com It's a new free product from Australia. It's web based so you can use it with any device that has a browser and can read the card (may need an external card reader). SleepHQ is brand new and is still rough around the edges but it does give you most of the same information that Oscar does. It's certainly much better than MyAir.

People have been reporting loss of signal transmission on AS10s since April 1st but on my AS10 unit (with CDMA) I have been getting myAir updates until today. Also checked and noticed the cell signal indicator has a diagonal slash across it. Guess that's the end of the line of myAir for me. No biggie other than the satisfaction of seeing mostly 100 on my score (I know, I know, it doesn't really mean much). The good thing is "big brother" can no longer watch over my shoulder.

Oscar is absolutely great (but maybe a bit of an overkill if you just want to take a quick view of how your night went).

I don't use MyAir but the machine has everything I want to see for a "quick review" right on the LCD screen.
The sleep report I can glance at when I turn the machine off. Has the basics and that's really all I need.
I can do my own pats on the back if I feel I want or earned them. :lol: :lol:
This morning...2 smiley faces an AHI 0.1 and 7 1/2 hours of use. Double pat on the back and go on with my day. :D

It's right there for reviewing. I don't have to push any special buttons or go deeper unless I want to.
Literally....push the off button and glance at the LCD screen at the same time.

Thanks to everyone on the info! I assume this means my doctor will no longer be able to adjust my settings remotely which is a bore☹️ Find it a bit shocking that Resmed didn’t do something about this “flaw”

What do you want them to do? make the cell phone companies keep supporting ancient (to them) tech?

That's like being shocked that Ford doesn't keep parts for your Model-T available at AutoZone.

Get real.

I turned airplane mode ON, but it nags me every time I turn the machine on.
I would want 4g off, but then I would have to buy a new phone.
I lose either way! :twisted:
