Hello,
Ever since I started using CPAP, I've had trouble determining a comfortable range for the Autoset pressure. How do you determine what is the correct range to use? The pressure always seems too low or too high, and I am never comfortable. Currently, I've just been using the range feels most comfortable while I am awake, but I will often wake up in the middle of the night uncomfortable and wanting to take off the mask.
Lately, I've been thinking about trying the consistent singular CPAP pressure throughout the night rather than an Autoset range. Is there any reasoning why I shouldn't do this? I feel like I would be able to find the perfect pressure that is comfortable and I would be able to comfortably use that amount of pressure all night. To my knowledge I've largely resolved my Sleep Apnea issues, I just want to be sure that I am breathing steadily throughout the night at this point and getting enough oxygen. I've always been a shallow breather in general.

Some people prefer a fixed pressure. There is no reason not to try it. You could also raise your minimum pressure to where it is closer to your maximum pressure which would limit the amount your pressure varies if the change of pressure is bothering you.

Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

a proper pressure is one that keeps your airway open so that you can breathe all night, without your airway closing up, and causing apena which will greatly disturb your sleep, even if you don't remember waking up.souldrifter wrote: ↑Sun Jun 05, 2022 1:32 pmHello,

If you go with a constant pressure, then it needs to be high enough to meet your needs all night long. Some people only need a low pressure for most of the night, but when they're in REM, they may need 2-4 times the pressure.
I've heard of lots of people who only need 7 or 8 for most of the night, but in rem need 17-18.
So, they can either run 18 ALL NIGHT LONG, which is somewhat less comfortable, OR, they can set up a pressure of 8, and have their REM sleep constantly interrupted by apneas, and thus feel like crap the next day.

THIS!
Whatever changes you make to the pressure settings, the data will help you zero in on what's best for treating your apnea.
