Air Fit N30
Air Fit N30
I've been using the AirFit N20 for a long time. I've tried many options to stop or heal my nose bridge soreness. I believe that an N30 or N30i would be a better choice. Remarks please.

Re: Air Fit N30
The Airfit N30i is a mask with a cushion that rests under the nose. Ive used it for a little while now its pretty awesome but now I prefer the nasel pillow mask the p30i.

The ResMed N30 gets 4.1 out of 5 stars on cpap.com. The N30i gets 4.5 out of 5 stars. The hose to the N30i attaches to the top of the headgear, unlike the N30 which attaches to the mask. Attachment to the headgear eliminates hose-pull on the mask. I would try the N30i. It's a popular mask.
Re: Air Fit N30
The N30i and the P30i with the hose attaching at the top....I tried both. Extremely noisy in terms of breath noise for me.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 7:24 am

Massive DarthVadar noise. I know it is a YMMV thing but I found the mask versions with the hose attached at the top by ResMed to be extremely "noisy" and so noisy that I didn't even want to try to sleep with the p30i version.
The N30 under the nose cushion is essentially silent in terms of breathing noise...it's pretty much a P10 but under the nose cushion instead of pillows.
If a person has trouble tuning out the conducted breath noise (the darth vadar effect) they might do better with the N30 over the N30i. Now a lot of people do well with the N30i or P30i or the F30i and they aren't bothered by the darth vadar breathing....so it is sure worth trying but given a choice between the N30 and the N30i...and I have tried both...the N30 suits me better because of the breathing noise thing. After so many years with the silent P10 and the silent Bleep I just couldn't tune out the Darth Vadar breathing noise this time. Years ago I could tune it out but not now.

Re: Air Fit N30
Thanks y'all. I very satisfied with your responses. I understand that the N30 might not hold in place as the N30i, but the nose cushion is smaller. Any comments, pros and cons?
Re: Air Fit N30
Sorry but I cannot compare the N20 cushion to the N30 cushion. If that is what you are referring to with the size question.
I was never about to use any nasal (or full face) mask that involved something covering my nose and touching the nasal bridge area....that area where eyeglasses rest.
Not so much a size issue as it is an issue because I can't stand anything touching the nasal bridge area of my nose.
Never have been able to do that. Hate it. Since there are so many other nasal masks of some sort that don't touch that area I just never had to try the over the end of the nose cushions.
I also have never really found that I particularly like/dislike or need the hose attaching at the top of the head.
For my needs it hasn't been a deal maker or breaker but I do understand for others that it might be.
When it comes to masks you just have to try them to see if it works for your preferences, wants and needs.
Your preferences, wants and needs might be different from mine.
One man's treasure is another man's trash....especially true when it comes to masks.
The main advantage IMHO to the N30i is the option to try the P30i cushion with same frame and headgear...makes it cheaper to try a different mask since only the cushion needs to be changed.

Re: Air Fit N30
I recommended the N30i because I use the F30i (full face mask with the same top hose connection), and it is silent for me. I scanned through some of the cpap.com reviews for the N30i, and a few mention noise. The vast majority don't mention noise.
BTW, you may remember a few years ago cpap.com would only display a handful of reviews. They've added a button that allows the downloading of more reviews in batches of 20.

Yep I remember but I don't put all that much faith in reviews.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 10:46 amBTW, you may remember a few years ago cpap.com would only display a handful of reviews. They've added a button that allows the downloading of more reviews in batches of 20.

I guess I should have posted a positive review for the N30 because I did get it from cpap.com but given my adversion to composing anything I just didn't take the time. I was very pleasantly surprised as to how well I did with it. Wore it pretty much all of January this year and for me to use any mask that long is saying something. I don't spend much time trying to make anything work if I just don't care for it for some reason.
The N30i, P30i and F30i that I tried came from a donations situation. They hated it as well so donated it.
So I couldn't post a negative review since I didn't buy it but probably wouldn't anyway...I am lazy.
I know that the DarthVadar noise is hit or miss with who it bugs.
So I guess my not posting a positive review or negative review for the 2 masks sort of equals out the review rating status.

The N30 is also a newer mask in terms of availability (I think) than the "i" models...so just the law of numbers could also be a factor.
Maybe once the N30 has been available for several years it will have a more positive overall higher number.
Shrugs and moves on.
OP wanted people's experience and I gave mine since I happened to have tried both the N30 and the N30i.
As for a longer trial with the N30i....I just don't have the patience I used to when something bugs me or not enough patience to make me want to work past things that might annoy me. I could probably have relearned to tune out the DarthVadar being in bed with me because I used to could do it in the past but anymore I just say to myself "why bother, you aren't going to abandon the Bleep anyway". So I don't put forth the effort to make something work like I used to.

I use the F&P Evora full face mask. If their nasal mask is as comfortable under and around the nose as the full face mask is, it will be extremely comfortable.

Re: Air Fit N30
I really like the N30i, but the one complaint I have is that the velcro on the rear head strap wears out quickly. I used a couple sections of some velcro cable ties to try to have more velcro surface area, but it still comes off once in a while. Anyone else have this issue or find a workaround for it? I'm almost at the point of trying some elastic such as what you might find on some shop goggles.

Welcome to the forum!
Are you frequently separating the velcro to adjust the headgear?

The N30 has velcro?

Re: Air Fit N30
No. The N30 doesn't have velcro but the N30i does. It has headgear that looks exactly like the headgear you got with the P10 package I sent you with the buckle. No velcro anywhere.
Original comments were about the N30 or N30i choice and then a newbie came in today and mentioned the N30i and the problem that he/she has with the velcro. You will find that happens a lot.
ResMed was stupid in naming these 2 masks....totally confusing.
