Nasal pillow mask similar to Pilario Q?

Post by CpapUser100 » Sat Oct 08, 2022 4:27 pm

I have been using the Pilario Q for many years and I'm wondering if there might be something similar worth trying.

I would love to find another elastic strap (ideally single) mask. I have a pretty large head. Any suggestions?

I tried the Nuance Pro and the pillows were ok, but I had 3 problems with it.
  • 1) The headgear kept popping up and broke some of my hair off.
    2) No quick release for bathroom breaks. (My CPAP hose stretches out and becomes unusable if I remove the mask from it.)
    3) Cold air blew on one of my arms when side sleeping.

The F&P Brevida pillow looks similar.
The venting port also looks similar.
The strap is different.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know if the Brevida's straps are elastic and if there's a quick release from the CPAP machine hose?

Brevida straps are elastic or stretchy. I don't remember how the stretchiness compares to the Pilario but since both are F & P products I would think they would be similar.

I don't remember if there is a quick release thing on it but if not I would be tempted to rig up my own quick release by adding the F & P Featherweight hose to make it have quick easy removal. It has male and female ends so it will attach to both the long hose and the mask or mask hose. Super lightweight and flexible.

It's been quite some time since I have had a Brevida in my hands so I just don't remember the small details.
Maybe someone else has a clearer memory.

Now F & P has a relatively new nasal mask...The Evora. Have you seen it? I had a chance to do a quick test with one a while back and it's a nice little mask. Reminds me a lot of the ResMed AirFit N30 nasal cushion mask which I had a chance to use last January. Nice little mask.

When I first started cpap there were little plastic quick release adapter/connectors everywhere but now they are really hard to find.
I don't know what changed.

Thanks for the reply, Pugsy. I have seen pics of the Evora but these are the masks I am most tempted to try:

AirFit P10 Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask and Frame by ResMed
What is the difference between this and the For Her version? Is it just the color or is the strap shorter on the For Her version?

Brevida Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask by Fisher & Paykel

ResMed AirFit N30 Nasal CPAP Mask

I have looked at pictures of all of them on multiple sites but none seem to show how the mask hose connects to the long CPAP machine hose.

The headgear with the For Her packaging is gray/pink in color but it's more than just a color difference. The For Her headgear is slightly smaller circumference than the navy blue headgear in the regular packaging. So the pink/gray headgear is smaller and I forget exactly how much smaller but years ago it was an inch or two. If a guy has a big head...don't even consider the "for Her" headgear. He will hate it.

In addition to that minor difference the for Her packaging comes with 3 sizes of nasal pillows
XSmall
Small
Medium

With the P10 regular packaging and navy headgear it still comes with 3 sizes of nasal pillows but the sizes are slightly different
Small
Medium
Large

Most of these masks that have short hoses to attach to the long hose can easily just be disengaged at the connection point where the short hose attaches to the long hose if someone wants to get up during the night and leave the mask on. Doesn't take a fancy connector.
The end of the short hose just slides into the long hose opening. I have even done it with the Bleep if I get up in the middle of the night and don't want to remove the glued on ports. I just separate the long hose from the short hose with a quick little pull apart motion.

Sometimes a little wiggle helps, without using excess force.
Discovered this the hard way, after destroying a heated hose . . .
