Boo, resmed will stop mirage quattro in 2023, replacement suggestions?

Post by MyIdaho1 » Fri Dec 16, 2022 9:06 pm

Bummer, just found out that Resmed will stop producing the Mirage Quattro mask and cushions in 2023. I'm nervous, won the lottery when loved the first mask that I tried and used for 12 years... Is there a good replacement mask for the Quattro? Oh man, it's like losing a dear friend... Quattro totally kicked sleep apnea's butt in my case. Will the replacement be as good? Any suggestions? Could kick the can down the road by buying ahead on cushions and perhaps a new mask.

If I thought my mask would be rendered obsolete next year I would probably be trying to find the money to buy some to keep stashed away.

Everyone should have at least 2 masks though IMO, just in case.

if you've got the dough, start hoarding them. i mean, if i was to learn that the p10 was going to be discontinued i'd be on it like a duck on a june bug.

also, take a look around cpap.com and see what looks good. read the reviews there and see.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I have been doing exactly that.
For the past few years.
I am ready for the predictable . . .
At least for a while.
I like my p10; and hope to continue using it for a long while.
No other mask is/was its equal.

I'd be interested in what you come up with. I like the ultra mirage quattro because of the nose bridge adjustment. The Resmed F20 beat up my nose bridge so much, I had to abandon it. I finally got a full face I like, then this happens. I'm getting some extra cushions and a few complete mask sets, as was recommended. I know what I like, and what you may like may not work for me. You have to remember that when fishing for suggestions.

I used the Quattro for about 8 years. I thought it was time to try something else. The F&P Simplus looked similar so I tried it and I liked it. Used the Simplus for about 2 years when F&P came out with the Vitera. Although similar to the Simplus, it has a few additional features. I could not be happier with the Vitera....It's a great mask.

Thanks LSAT. I have always valued your remarks (everyone listen up!). I went to CPAP.cm and looked at the Vitera mask. I couldn't tell how the mask straps connect to the mask. I can see the adjustment, but not the connection.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions! Got busy and neglected to check for replies until now. After checking all my storage areas, I found three brand new Mirage Quattro cushions and two new elbow assemblies, and three (used) plastic masks. I usually get 6 months of service from my cushions with frequent cleaning. I'm in very good shape for supplies, no need to make a switch in the near future. Will look at buying more Mirage Quattro cushions in 2023. I like the idea of stockpiling supplies to extend usage as long as possible...

The F20-Air Fit may be a good choice for me. I'll read reviews and look at the other suggested mask as well. Never hurts to be informed and plan for future changes.

Thanks again!

I used the Mirage Quattro for 9 years. Just switched to the Resmed F30i, and I'd say it's an improvement. My ahi is lower with it and I have fewer leaks. Also is a lot smaller form factor. Give it a try.

As I was looking into this, it appears the Mirage Quattro headgear is the same as ALL Quattro masks. Thats good news. Besides the cushion, it's the velcro that normally wears out the headgear, so it's good to know you can get that. It's hard to figure why a company would discontinue such a popular mask. I took LSAT's advice and will try the F&P Vitera. If I can adjust the nose bridge pressure, I figure I can find the sweet spot on the nose bridge adjustment, and I'll leave it alone. That's what I do with the Mirage anyway. Good luck. Finding a new mask is a journey.
