Using Aircurve 10 VAuto - but need replacement advice

Post by BigEd » Fri Dec 30, 2022 1:21 pm

I've been using the Aircurve 10 VAuto for the last 6 years or so. About 8 or 9 months ago it reached its manufacturer's suggested motor life. Other than needing to clear the "motor life exceeded" message each morning, it appears to be operating without issue. I've been waiting for the Resmed Aircurve 11 VAuto to replace my current machine, but don't want to push my "waiting" luck forever. My questions are:
    • 1. Is there any plan for Resmed to release an Aircurve 11 VAuto? If so is there an estimated release date?
    • 2. In lieu of an Aircurve 11 VAuto, is there a current Resmed machine that will make a comparable replacement? Perhaps the Airsense 11 AutoSet?
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Do you need the Aircurve? Pressure higher than 20 or pressure support greater than 3? If not, maybe you could get away with the Autoset.

I really don't know why people are so obsessed with waiting for the next version.

The AirSense 10 and AirCurve 10 are tried and true. Judging by the the AirSense 11, new features and design really doesn't justify the wait and added expense. Many would argue that the Air 11 is a step backwards.

    Common complaints have been:
    • Humidifier tank, all though they both hold 380ml, the 10 could be overfilled and the 11 has spilling issues when filled close to the max.
    • Seating issues with the SD Card, sometimes resulting in data not being written
    • Removal of hose swivel and 90 degree bend, effectively reduces hose length
    • Supply chain problems (this has largely been resolved)
It makes even less sense that you would be willing to settle for an AirSense 11, instead of an new AirCurve 10 VAuto that has obviously been working well for you for many years.

There is no real long term data on the Air11 and new blower.

I recently asked the nurse practitioner at the sleep clinic about getting new machines for my wife and I before the Air Curve 11 machines comes out. I really like my machine and want to keep using the same kind of machine in the future. She ordered new Air Curve 10s for both of us. My machine is over seven years old, and my wife's is over five years old. I expect to hear from the DME next week.
