Airsense 10 for her. What’s the difference?

Post by Dwpower » Tue Jan 10, 2023 1:51 pm

I rented an resmed autosense 10 for her ( this is what they gave me and I’m not sure why). My sleep doctor requested it as a trial for a month to see how it would work for me.
I asked the equipment provider what the difference was between the resmed autosense 10 and the resmed Autosense 10 for her were.
The only response I received was it just the colour and that’s all.

Is this truly the answer?
I now own an Airsense 11 autosense and the treatment seems to be quite different.
The rental seemed to attempt to blow my mask off in the middle of the night but the new resmed 11 is more softer..

ResMed has two Air 10 auto-titrating devices:
  • AirSense 10 AutoSet
    Black
    Two modes: CPAP and AutoSet
  • AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her
    Beige (with vines)
Three modes: CPAP, AutoSet, AutoSet for Her
The for her algorithm is an optional algorithm specifically designed for female breathing patterns
ResMed discontinued the for Her devices in the Air11 models. Now all AutoSets have both the regular AutoSet algorithm and the AutoSet for Her algorithm

Rephrase for the sake of emphasis:
When ResMed created the Autoset Air 11, the put both autoset algorithms in the new machine.

AirSense 11
  • Black
  • Three modes: CPAP, AutoSet, AutoSet for Her.
Some people find the Autoset for Her algorithm gives them better therapy, some find the Autoset better - regardless of gender.

The machines are probably set different.
It happens all the time.
The monkeys they hire are incompetent.

Well, what you're discovered is that you equipment provider doesn't know anything, and will happily lie to you.

From the clinical manual:

The AutoSet for Her is similar to ResMed’s AutoSet algorithm with the following modifications:
* Reduced rate of pressure increments designed to help prevent arousals.
* Slower pressure decays.
* Treats apneas up to 12 cm H2O and continues to respond to flow limitation and snore up to 20 cm H2O.
* Minimum pressure (Min. Pressure) that adjusts according to the frequency of apneas: If two apneas occur within a minute, the pressure reached in response to the second apnea will become the new minimum treatment pressure until the next treatment session.
