I picked up my fifth cpap machine, an AirSense 11. For the first time over years of therapy, I got concerned about a filter. As the technician was demonstrating filter replacement. I picked the filter up, lightly pulled at the fibers to find they came off the filter easily. Here's a link to a look at the difference between AirSense 10 and 11 filters.

I was given 6 extra filters. They are quite smaller in area and very thin compared to AirSense 10 filters. The loose fibers look like a substandard product compared to any other filter for cpaps. I hope my DME will contact ResMed about my concern with the filters. I wonder if these fibers could make it from the filter to the mask and into the patient.

I am scheduled to exchange the new AirSense 11 for a 10. I have contacted ResMed about the loose fiber filters and the chemical odor that is present in the air outflow.
