How Do I Dry Inside My CPAP Hose After Washing?

The title pretty much says it all. I tried a heat gun that I use in my work . . . BAD idea!

If you MUST wash the hose or tank, do it at bedtime, when moisture doesn't matter.
It has been years since I have washed a hose--not even during chemo in 2021.
It is not necessary

Why does the inside of your hose need cleaning? I've never cleaned a hose. I've used hoses for 3 and 5 years before replacing them. They were still clean.

The manufacturers direct patients to wash everything as often as possible,
even though it is not necessary, because excess handling causes DAMAGE,
which ensures repeat sales to replace damaged supplies.

i see that lazarus gave you a good link. if you're going to continue cleaning your hose (i'm in the no-clean-hose camp), you might want to consider purchasing a second hose, if that's economically feasible.
that way, you can let the hose take it's own sweet time to dry.

I say keep it bone-dry when not in use. You can run the machine for about 30 minutes in the morning to make sure all the droplets are dried. This might be overkill, but I really don't want anything growing in there.

Put the hose and mask on your CPAP and run a couple cycles of Mask Fit

I question why you feel the hose has to be dried out? Won't you then put it on the cpap and wet the hose all over again?

I don't clean my hose but also am against just hanging the hose in the bathroom or any room to dry. IMO that only allows bacteria floating thru the air to get inside the hose. I try to always keep my hose and cpap closed.

IF you insist, using a cpap to blow filtered air thru is the best option as suggested above.

I clean my hoses and equipment and have been doing so since I started treatment ~12 years ago. I clean once a week and I have yet to 'wear anything out'. I replace my nasal pillow and machine filter once a month and everything else gets swapped out once a year.

That said, I don't use anything to dry my hoses out, I do hang them up in my bedroom. I also empty my water reservoir (oh the horror), shake out the water, and with it open, I turn it upside down to dry.

BUT, if a person wanted to dry their hoses out, a battery-operated air pump, of the type used to inflate an air mattress, would be perfect. I have such a pump and the end of the CPAP air hose fits perfectly onto the pump fitting. The pump can be set to either blow or suck. (Comments from the peanut gallery are welcome)

Yes, I read your post. And no, me asking you, does not state or even suggest that *you* do this. It specifically asks why one (anyone), would wash a hose, and then immediately foul it.

You just gave out bad advice that you didn't think through. Then when challenged, instead of putting some actual thought into the advice you just gave. You moved the goal posts, you made it about semantics. You decided that when you saw the word "you're", it was about *you*, without recognizing that a perfectly reasonable use of the word "you" can be anyone in particular.

But, let me rephrase this differently.

Drying a CPAP hose really isn't necessary, but if it makes you more comfortable, you can use the Mask Fit option on your ResMed, or the Test Drive on a ResMed Air 11.

But don't wash your CPAP and then immediately foul it by using pumps, hair dryers, heat guns, etc.
