Sudden increase in apnea events per hour

Post by Linjotaos » Mon Sep 04, 2023 11:46 am

I have been on biPAP therapy on a Resmed Airsense 10 for 15 months. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea (11-15 apnea events per hour). My apnea events per hour have been consistently low that entire time, typically between 0.0 and 2.0 per hour with only an occasional spike above 5.0. Suddenly, 2 weeks ago my sleep report began showing apnea events per hour in the range of 7.5 to 13.7 every night. The sleep report shows a good mask seal (green smiley face) and I do not detect any air leak. My sleeping habits and sleeping positions have not changed; I typically sleep on my side most of the night. My husband has not observed any changes in how I sleep; he says I sleep restfully and do not snore or gasp; he has not detected breath holding. I do not have dry mouth or morning headaches; I feel rested when I wake up. My husband checked my machine twice last night; after 4 hours the sleep report showed an average of 8 apnea events per hour but just two hours later the average had jumped to 13.7 events per hour and the final sleep report for the entire night showed an average of 13.7 per hour which means the events per hour for the last 2 hours would have had to jumped to about 23 events per hour for the entire night to average 13.7 per hour. This just does not seem like accurate readings to us. I notified Lincare (the supplier of my device) more than a week ago but have not received a response. I have a regularly scheduled appointment with my sleep doctor one week from now. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? This appears to be a problem with the machine rather than me. After 15 months the sudden and sustained substantial increase in apnea events just doesn’t seem plausible. HELP!

my sleep report
what are you using to generate this sleep report? is it oscar software?

also, hard to read your block of text. it might behoove you to go back through and edit it so there are breaks in the text. gets hard on the eyes.

oh! and welcome to the zoo!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

To follow up on Zonker's post: it would be very helpful if you could download the Oscar software to a laptop or desktop computer and then feed your data into it using an SD card. If there isn't an SD card in the slot, get one (small and cheap). And if you don't have an SD card reader built into your computer, get a plug-in reader. (They're cheap too).

It would be great if you could do this soon so that we can take a look and give you some thoughts before you meet with your sleep doctor.
