Help with Interpreting my WatchPAT ONE results
Help with Interpreting my WatchPAT ONE results
Hello, I recently did a home sleep study with a WatchPAT ONE device through Lofta and was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea (low AHI, RDI = 9.7, and REM RDI = 20.4). CPAP treatment was prescribed but I am unsure about the benefits given my low AHI. What is the significance of the REM RDI? I do usually wake up not feeling well-rested and sometimes experience moderate to severe daytime drowsiness. I am a 20 year old male with a BMI of 21.7. I would appreciate any help with interpreting the results from the test. I have attached the report. Thank you for your help!

I don't think you have anything and need to look elsewhere for your issues.

What, aren't you going to ask why?

Re: Help with Interpreting my WatchPAT ONE results
It isn't RDI, it's pRDI- PAT events that with other criteria are used to score respiratory events. Oxygen desaturations are minimal (perhaps not even valid). If there were pulse events, in a 20 year old they would be about 6-10, not 40-50.
See the area where most of the issues are claimed to occur:

That's scored artifact, but that area is probably all artifact. Doubt this was reviewed by a qualified (or even unqualified) individual.
IMO - Train Wreck Sleeper.

OK, I get it that PAT RDI can't be treated like EEG RDI.
But what about the snores during that period?
And I don't understand what numbers you're referring to in the following sentence

Namely: What do you call a "pulse event" and what does the 6-10 vs. 40-50 refer to?

Re: Help with Interpreting my WatchPAT ONE results

A pulse event would be an increase in heart rate usually >6 BPM. HR increases follow respiratory events (sympathetic/parasympathetic response and now you have some extra blood to move). In practice, they're like 6-10, as seen in the validated WatchPAT report.
The OP HR increases are 50-60! Undoubtedly motion artifact.
Real snores are much tighter, but IMO that whole area is jumping around-- the snores are artifact as well.
Are we to believe the scored REM is real?
Well, maybe some of it...

Re: Help with Interpreting my WatchPAT ONE results
Thank you for the information! Do you have any ideas as to next steps/ possibilities I might look into if it's not sleep apnea?
Re: Help with Interpreting my WatchPAT ONE results
Sure!
Start out with a complete physical by a good internal medicine guy (gender-neutral).
If they (gender-neutral) think you have a sleep issue, see a real sleep medicine guy (gender-neutral).
