Aircurve 11 Vauto Leak Alert

Post by mda74 » Tue Jul 09, 2024 7:59 pm

Just got an Aircurve 11 today. I have an issue keeping my mask on and was looking forward to having a leak alert. Turns out it doesn't look like resmed kept that feature on the 11. I have read it's on the 10. Anyone know why they removed it? Does anyone else find it helpful and that it lets them know when they have taken their mask off, or is it not loud enough of a beep?

Thanks!

Don't use it on the 10. If its turned in the smart start won't work.

The AirCurve 10 clinician manual and all my AC 10s have the Leak Alert configuration Item.

The AirCurve 11 clinician manual doesn't mention the leak alert, makes sense that it was removed in the move from AC 10 to AC 11.

Why one would want to be woken up with an alert, because of a leak is beyond me.

A lot of people, including myself take their mask off in their sleep and then suffer many apeas without knowing it. Why someone would not want to be alerted to that is beyond me.

That leak alert alarm (if it is turned on) is pitifully weak in terms of the "alarm".
Back when I did have that alarm enabled and used it....I slept right through the "alarm" beeping.
It was never loud enough to wake me up. YMMV

I suggest people experiment with it to see just how "loud" it isn't.

What is your experience in using the alert?

From what the equipment company is saying now, it doesn't even come on the VAuto.. You need another version apparently of the AirCurve 10.
I just coded an android app over the weekend that records audio and just checks the ambient sound and if it goes over a certain threshold for X amount of time (which means my mask is off), I sound an alarm. It did wake me up. I will have to try it for a week or so and see if it really helps. I had my mask on way longer last night than usual because I put it back on, but also feel like crap today so wondering if it interrupted REM sleep maybe. I dunno.
