Getting CPAP Machine Data to SD Card

Post by chuck29 » Thu Jul 11, 2024 5:06 pm

Hello All,

I had some issues with my SD card and had to reformat. When I put SD card in machine and then later read contents, I see I only have last night's data downloaded. Shouldn't the machine upload all data to the SD card? When going through Resmed screen, I see that many days of data are there.

Also, before I formatted card, I saw that there was no data uploaded for last night, so when I went to OSCAR, much of it was blank. Anyone every experience a night here and there not uploading data?

Thank you!

The machine needs the SD card to be in the machine for it to write the detailed data (that you are now missing) directly to the SD card.
The machine ONLY STORES summary data in its internal memory so that's all it can put back on that newly formatted SD card.

So when you reformatted the SD card you erased the older detailed data from that SD card and then when you put that SD card back into the machine all the machine could do is give you summary data....no graphs..no details beyond summary data which is basically what you can see on the sleep report on the LCD screen of the machine.

If you didn't have data from last night....was the SD card in the machine all night?
And when did you do the reformat of the SD card?

I take the SD card out of my AirSense 10 every morning to feed the data into Oscar. The PC regularly complains about the card being corrupted, needing reformatting, etc.

Often, simply taking the card and reader out of my PC and reinstalling them back in place fixes things. Sometimes that needs doing 2 or 3 times before the PC is happy.

Occasionally, when I put the card back into the ResMed I see the usual brief "Preparing card" message staying on the screen longer than normal - and that's when I know it has actually reformatted the card and erased all the old data! Fortunately, I have a copy of it all on my PC.

Once a blue moon, when I feed the card into the PC, there is no data on it from last night. Go figure!

What SD card? What reader? What format did you use?

I almost never have SD card problems, I've formatted one once. Supposed to use FAT32. Supposedly for the AS10 series don't go above 32gb. Also, let the card sit for a minute after stopping the machine before pulling it out.

I used a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset for 5 years without any SD card problems. I got a replacement Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset without a card. It apparently reformatted the card when I transferred it from the old to new machine. I should have gotten a new card. I still have the data on Oscar.

1. the SD card which came with the machine
2. a generic SD card reader rom Amazon
3. I did not format it

So I have a similar problem with an SD card being erased. I have been using an AirSense 11 since February 2021. I took the chip to the doctor and the person put it into her computer to print report for the pulmonologist. When I got home, the card had no files on it... empty... :(

The staff told me I had a wireless machine and did not need an SD card at all. None of them know about Oscar, I guess.

I have the data that WAS on the card in Oscar's files on my PC. How can I copy that to the SD Card and continue logging info?

Should I just put it into the machine and let it continue logging and make a new profile in Oscar first before opening after store a few more nights?

I understand that the cpap machine has a memory of one year's data but it is much simplified than the data that the device would store on the SD card.

thank you for your collective wisdom on this site!

I think that ship has sailed. You're lucky you have the data archived. If you didn't 'image' the card you can't restore it in a way that your machine will tolerate.
Should I just put it into the machine and let it continue loging and make a new profile in Oscar first before opening after store a few more nights?
I don't think you have to create a new profile, Oscar will just eat it up... add it to the data it already has. You can if you want.

Yes, exactly... everyone should archive their SD card data before trusting it to the ways of the sleep doctor's secretary. I've seen them delete it as a matter of course... don't want it running out of room! There is a LOCK tab on the card, I don't trust those myself.
