Motor Life Exceeded

Post by Aretino » Fri Jul 12, 2024 8:03 am

Anyone have a procedure to reset or clear the Motor Life Exceeded warning on a Resmed machine?

You can't.

As soon as your ResMed hits about 20K hours it starts displaying that message.

Many have replaced motor, but message remains.

If it functions and you can ignore the message you can do that.

if it is blowing less hard or has other issues like extremely dusty inside where you can't clean or something isn't working and you are not eligible for a new one from insurance yet. Insurance generally replaced at 5 years, and if you don't already have a spare machine I would send it in for repair to have one.

Both of these can replace the motor, zero the timer, and check the whole thing over for function and calibrate it.

I can replace the Fan motor myself for a little over $100. I guess I can live with the warning. Just curious.

I hear you - the only reason to send it in is if something else isn't working - like the humidifer heater, the heated tubing ring is broke, or any one of a dozen sensors in the unit.

The motors off amazon are certainly an option and like you say, just over $100. The typical repair/replace motor, clean, and calibrate replacing sensors as needed is around $250 + shipping from what others have reported

But, so long as it is working fine, there is no reason to do a thing. One other thing people note is that after they get it back it is much quieter and blows harder than it did before... new motor, go figure.

When mine had that message, it was still working fine. There was a Black Friday Sale on cpap.com, and I bought a replacement for a little over $300. Now the old machine is my backup. So as long as it's still working fine, you're good. But it is a reminder that it's days may be numbered.

I'll have to wait on insurance to get a new one.... the ASV machines are INSANE - $3500 - if you can find them at all. The stupid part is how little difference there is... a little square of plastic that slides into the slot in the case that says ASV on it and firmware...

Insurance is supposed to provide a new one when this one dies in 4 more years :) And then I'll send it in for a new motor and calibration - I can replace the motor but not do the rest.

our member, LSAT, often has used ASV's available in good condition, for reasonable prices. PM him if interested.

Mine also had that message last year. GP wrote a new Rx and Nationwide replaced it with a new one. Took three machines until I got one with "0" hours on it.
