Resmed 11

Post by Taheera » Tue Aug 27, 2024 5:49 am

Hi all,

We are considering to purchasing Resmed Airsence 11 as a replacement for the Philips Dreamstation and wanted to know your thoughts on the following.

1. Resmed Airsense 11 is not yet available in our country, and we would buy it from the US. We have been told to use an SD card and an alternative app, as the one used in the US won't work. Is anyone else doing this and does it work?

2. Water tank: We read that the devise has water tank issues and also need to be refilled frequently. Is anyone experiencing this and is it common that it gets empty during the night?

3. Noise: How are the noise levels? We had issues with Philips as it was always very noisy, especially for me. (Wife of the CPAP user)

4. Black particles: After the Philips fiasco we want to buy the devise that has least risks. Does anyone know if the foam used at Resmed is safe?

5. Last but not least, would Resmed 10 be the better choise?

Since sleep apnea is not covered by our insurance and we are self payers, we want to make sure to choose the right machine.

Thanks in advance!

I've been using the machine for over a year now. What I can tell you is that in my area the water tand could be better at first (In winter) my tank would be dry in the morning so I added a humidifier in my room and that helped. Any sleep over 7 hours and th tank will generally be dry. I did play with the heating on mine so these setting can be adjusted and possibly help it to stay humid at a good level based on the hose temperature settings.

As for noise, It's my first machine so I have nothing to compare it to but I feel its a pretty quite unit. I think I get more noise from me breathing more than anything else. No issues with particles.

There really is no reason to go with the Air 11.

Since releasing the Air 11, in the few years of the 11, it has received more complaints than the 10's 10 year history.
  • louder
  • lack of accessories
  • leaky hose attachment flaw
  • heating system errors
  • smaller tank, that goes through water faster
  • no swivel on the hose
  • SD card seating issues
Make sure you get the AutoSet model.

If you have a PC and SD card, don't worry about the app. We can show you a much better tool that is easy to use.

Thank you very much. We decided to go ahead with the 10. Do you know if there are any issues we should expect. Does the water tank generally last through 1 night minimum? If you could help with alternatives to reading the results that would be very helpful. Thank you!!

Thats good you didnt face any issues. I think we will go ahead with 10 just to be safe as I worry about the water tank especially when the air gets dry.

Generally, yes. But, it depends on the conditions. Here are some things that speed up the water usage.

- High machine pressure settings
- High unintentional mask leak
- Dry ambient room conditions
- High humidifier settings
