CPAP Oscar Result Feedback

Post by cbballantyne » Wed Oct 09, 2024 2:56 pm

Hi All,

I've recently joined the CPAP club! I'm hoping to get some feedback on how my results are looking and see if any of the pros here have any suggestions for me.

To give some background I've been feeling cognitively slow, struggling with memory and energy for the past year, culminating with a sleep study. Overall my sleep study only showed mild sleep apnea based on an AHI of 6.1, but during REM it jumped to 18. I've been feeling cognitively slow, struggling with memory and energy for the past year.

Fast forward to today and I just finished my third week with the Resmed Autoset 10 and I seem to be getting more used to sleeping with the mask (Airfit N20). My AHI is looking reasonable at 1.17 last night, averaging around 1 (although mostly clear airway events), but I am still not seeing the improvements I was hoping for (potentially some improvement but still hard to tell). Anyways just thought I'd post my OSCAR results to see if there are any red flags I should be addressing or if everything looks reasonable and I should just give it more time to work its magic.

Thanks in advance!

my OSCAR

If that was my chart, I would raise the minimum pressure to 7.0 for one night. (You could do this in two steps - 6.0 the first night.) Evaluate the next day.

BTW, subjective evaluation should be done near bedtime the next day. Was I energetic today? Did I have any excess sleepiness? (Some sleepiness, especially after lunch, is normal.) Near bedtime, am I fatigued but not stressed?

Thanks for the feedback! That's a good point about time of day evaluation, it may be more noticeable at the end of the day that I now have some gas left in the tank. I will try upping the minimum pressure; is there anything particular I should see improved on my chart with this change?

Great advice from CG. I'd second the recommendation to raise you minimum to 7 simply so you can get the full benefit of your EPR of 3. (The machine can't go lower than 4.) And you may find that having a constant EPR all night long will help you sleep a little more soundly.
