Higher AHI Readings on AirSense 11 than AirSense 10

Post by Bmck8381 » Wed Oct 16, 2024 10:41 am

I have been using an AirSense 10 CPAP, Pressure 9 for the past seven years with excellent results. AHI events have consistently averaged below 2, and leakage usually at or near zero. This system was recently replaced with a new AirSense 11 with the same settings. My AHI event readings on the AirSense 11 have consistently been much higher, averaging around 8 and range from 6-12. I am using the same mask, Philips Nuance Pro on both systems. If I switch back to the old AirSense 10, my numbers drop back to AHI less than 2, and no leakage.
My DME swapped out the first new Airsense 11 for a new one. The AHI events averaged 8 on both AirSense11 machines, but the leakage decreased from an average of 15 to 10.
Working with my DME and my doctor, we have tried adjusting the pressure setting, as well as humidity and hose temperature, but these changes have not helped. My doctor said that he had another patient with the same issue, and ended up replacing the AirSense 11 with a new AirSense 10 to solve it.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a cause or solution?

Without looking at the daily detailed data, we (and your doctors and the DME) are just guessing about what might be happening.

It would be worth uploading data to SleepHQ from both machines and putting the public "share" links to the data over here. Or importing data from both machines into OSCAR and taking some screen shots of the daily data.

Because without that daily data, all we can do is speculate.

Good advice. I used SleepHQ and posted results. I was able to dial in my therapy and get AHI down under .5 AHI pretty consistently. Usually around .2 AHI.
I found SleepHQ somewhat easier to use than Oscar. When I had my Airsense 10, I did use Oscar and posted to this board. I did have improved results using that method too. The setting tweaks were much better than what I got from my original sleep doctor/report.
