I have just started my CPAP therapy, my AHI was 52.5 (OSA) and the pressure set is to 8 as per my prescription. I'm using the Resmed Airsense 11 with a heated tube & an AirFit F40 mask.
I didn't like the ramp feature which was set at 4, so I have turned that off. I also came across the EPR setting (1) and I see most people turn it off too, due to not actually getting the prescribed pressure.
What do you all recommend......turn EPR off or leave it on?

Re: Just started CPAP - Resmed Airsense 11 EPR Settings ON or OFF
It's a personal comfort feature and strictly up to each person if they wish to make use of the EPR feature or not.
I would NOT agree with your
EPR can make the difference between success and failure for some people.
The only absolute with cpap therapy......there are no absolutes.
Just because one person or the rest of the world does something it does NOT mean that it is the right thing for everyone else in the world to be doing.
Me.....I do a lot better when using EPR, or in the case of a bilevel machine, using PS or pressure support.
That's what EPR is...pressure support.
A small percentage of cpap users will have a problem with using EPR but they are actually in relatively small numbers and shouldn't be used as a reason to not use EPR (as long as they are part of that small minority).

Re: Just started CPAP - Resmed Airsense 11 EPR Settings ON or OFF
I have been using the EPR at a setting of 2 for as long as I have been using Resmed machines...about 10+ years. As Pugsy said...it's a comfort feature to make it easier to exhale against your preessure. Unless you have very low pressure settings, I think everyone should try it to see if it helps making breathing more comfortable.

Re: Just started CPAP - Resmed Airsense 11 EPR Settings ON or OFF
Thank you for the responses, I appreciate it. I understand it's a personal thing and I guess I will find out and adjust as needed. My pressure is on the lower side 8, so I think I will try with EPR off for now and see how it goes.
