Anyone using MAD device and CPAP ?
I was told that some people use CPAP and MAD devices concurrently. Some people who have traveling and congestion issues may opt for MAD device in certain instances. I have heard though that MAD (Mandibular advancement device ) does not reduce apnea events as well as CPAP; therefore it is recommended only for mild and moderate cases. Anyone have positive experiences with MAD devices while also using CPAP successfully? Anyone with Jaw issues such as TMJ who also use MAD devices ?

Re: Anyone using MAD device and CPAP ?
I mostly use CPAP, but when I travel or have a cold and can’t tolerate the mask, I switch to the MAD. It’s not as effective, but it helps enough to get some decent sleep. I have mild TMJ and the device didn’t make it worse for me, but I did have to get it adjusted a couple times.

Although it must be said that subjective judgments of the 'decency' of one's own personal sleep without objective data are notoriously unreliable. That is, for example, why many with health-damaging OSA who have not yet been diagnosed often have no idea how much their sleep architecture is or isn't being affected by their sleep-breathing.spitintheocean wrote: ↑Wed May 21, 2025 4:51 pm. . . it helps enough to get some decent sleep. . . .
