new user- help with adjusting pressure

Post by zuzijanka » Sat May 24, 2025 6:05 am

Hi,
Asking for my partner, new to CPAP, bought one without diagnosis.
We set the pressure at 6.6 and it worked great, he says he felt great after 4hrs night. However I worry about the CA’s. Since we don’t know the type of apnea he has, is the fixed pressure good or making it potentially worse, and what level is safe for ‘experimenting’?
Can you suggest something based on the OSCAR data?
Thank you!

Before worrying about the centrals seen you need to determine if they are real asleep centrals or post arousal centrals or maybe just a normal sleep transition central.

Zoom in in a 4 minute time frame on that little group of centrals happening just prior to the 3:20 time mark.

So that it looks like these examples here.

Thank you! It looks like the centrals appear after some breath disturbance, like in the screenshots.
Does it mean that it should be safe to up the pressure?

Why were you wanting to increase the pressure anyway?
More pressure won't help with the centrals and you really aren't having enough of the OAs or hyponeas to warrant more pressure.
