Activa rain out question...

Post by Guest » Thu Mar 17, 2005 9:46 am

I'm on my third mask and still trying to get it right. I purchased a res med activa nasal mask. It seals well, I can sleep on my side, and it doesn't leave marks on my face, so I think I'm headed in the right direction.

Here is the question: I have been awakened to a mask full of water the last three nights. I turned the humidity down and I have insulated the hose. Doesn't matter. Any suggestions?

I'm so tired. I keep trying but CPAP just continues to keep me awake.

You normally have to sign on twice to log in. Kinda of annoying.

I noticed a differance by making sure my machine was lower than the bed, i.e. on the floor instead of on a nightable.

Gravity keeps most of the condensation dripping back into the humidifier.

After viewing countless posts about rainout, I have come to the conclusion that every situation is different. Temp of your bedroom, location of your machine, the positioning of your hose, temp setting of your humidifier etc. While The "Aussie heated hose" may be the (expensive) answer..... I can only relate to my situation.
I use the Activa AND I do not have rainout. My machine is very close to the floor (a table that sits about 1 foot off of the floor) My hose is routed up and behind my head board. It hangs from behind my head. I also bought an insulated sleeve (which works fine for me)
My humidifier setting is as low as it will go.
Don't know if that will work for you but ....that's my situation.
Good Luck

Logging In issue >>>>>>>>>>> click on "FAQ" in the upper left corner. Your might find an answer there. I think it probably has something to do with "cookies".

Yes the Aussie Heated Hose is pricey. But it does what it says. I can turn the humidifier all the way up, and not get any rainout. A cover will help a bit, if you have a whole house humidifer you can lower it to reduce the humidity in the air, you can try to raise the room temp a few degrees, but the best results are from the aussie heated hose.
